Has anybody been accepted to college without taking precalculus?

It depends on your major and the specific college you have in mind. Some mom on CC whose daughter got admitted to Barnard with a non-science major, only finished Algebra II.

lol. I don’t think that taking precalculus is that significant… I went straight from Math B (NYS) to AP Calc BC…

I think the question you mean to ask is “Has anyone been accepted into a highly competitive college without precalculus?”

I know of quite a few kids who went to college, though certainly not big name schools, without taking precalculus.

So can you get into University of Florida without taking precalculus?

Technically you only need Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry: [UF Admissions](http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/ugrad/frplanning.html)

I guess it’s plausible. I’m not really familiar with UF in terms of competitiveness or selectivity since I had no interest in it. I’d think that if you’re in-state, you’re probably alright.

My friend got accepted to Columbia without taking PreCalc…but then again she’s hispanic.
