D- polecats; then, to get in teh way of a skunk
E- polecats: getting in a skunk’s

Question is from OG. The answer is B. But in choice B, the combined sentence becomes a run on. "I know that a skunk’s Latin name is Mephitis mephitis, and that shunks should not be confused with polecats, but if you get in a skunk’s way, these facts will not help you much. Don’t you need a semi-colon in there?

Its not a Run on. Choice B is correct.
