HELP with reading (not CR)

This is kind of a boost to CR, but how do you manage to read The Once and Future King without falling asleep 10 times.
My teacher forced me to read this…

hahaha. that sucks. i’ve always believed that forcing people to read books is the best way to kill anyone’s interest in literature (just as forcing a person to go to school is the best way to make sure an education becomes a chore and not a precious gift). i’m sorry to hear they’re making you do that. i never read the book, myself, but whenever i read anything that puts me to sleep i try to understand why the author wrote it. you may be forced to read it, but he wasn’t forced to write it–try to figure out why he spent all the time and energy to create that book. he must have been trying to say or do something, and he must have thought that something was pretty important.

of course, there are some books, like tess of the durbervilles, that defy explanation, and are horribly undeserving of their fame. but hey, it doesn’t hurt to try.

i thought that once and future king was pretty interesting. however, i have a keen sense for literature themes and the themes are interesting to me. i.e.: hero’s cycle, the rise and fall of the king, etc.

Include the Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway to that “horribly undeserving of their fame.”
