SAT’s superscored: 1780 – M:590 Cr:540 W:630
Hoping to improve to 1900 or above after I have been reviewing/studying a lot this summer.

GPA: W: 3.95 UW:3.85
Rank: 41/389

5 AP classes in Junior and Senior year and all tough courses throughout high school

Average EC’s…nothing too impressive

Anything in Pennsylvania, Ohio region…
Medium sized schools, urban/suburban, nothing too large, nothing too small

College of Wooster, definitely.

I think that might be too small.

Isn’t it only like 2000-3000 undergrads? and I also didn’t hear too many great things about it from some others.

Case Western Reserve University is probably a bit of a reach with your SAT’s, but probably attainable with the increase you are hoping for.

Maybe University of Ohio or Ohio State? Your scores are out of Upenn range and lack of EC’s I assume would put you out of contention, although nothing is ever certain. Ohio has Oberlin, Kenyon, and Denison if your looking for a fairly selective and smaller school as well, a really good essay might help out there if you can get up to AT LEAST 1900. By the way, I would suggest trying the ACT, I know of a few friends who scored similar to you on the SAT but managed around a 30 on the ACT.

Ok, thanks.

Would you guys consider Pitt a safety?

Your SATs are just below the middle 50% range for Denison (about 2200 students) and Pitt (about 16,000), way out of range for Oberlin (about 2800 undergrads), also out of range for Kenyon (which is even smaller than Wooster). College of Wooster is about 1800 students, but your SATs are in the range for them. (They require all students to do a senior thesis, and have a rep for helping students to flower.) It sounds like your course load and grades would be in your favor, although how much may depend on your high school (rigor, grade inflation, etc).

Pitt would definitely not appear to be a safety to me. How about Duquesne? It’s also in Pittsburgh, has 5,600 undergrads, and your stats seem to put you solidly in the range.

What do you consider “too small” and “too large”? Many of the schools you might consider also require SATIIs. Have you taken any yet? Have you taken the AP exams for any of the AP courses you’ve taken so far, and if so what did you get on them? Some of these Qs might help refine your choices.
