Help with safteys *will chance back*

hi all! I’m currently a high school junior and am thinking about colleges. I’m super worried so I definitely want to have some safteys to apply to that I know I will get in (probably 2 maybe 3) so could anyone suggest some safteys that might fit me well?

As far as community service I have a ton from being in key club as well as a ton outside of that club
Ec’s I have a lot and also have a couple leadership positions and four different internship experiences by the end of this summer also a peer tutor for statistics
So basically what would be considered a saftey school based mostly on my stats cause I’m not too worried about my ec’s? I was thinking nyu(I live in ny) but others have said that’s not a saftey. I was also thinking bc, u Maryland, gwu, American or bu. Any suggestions please!?

What state do you live in and how much can your parents afford?

I live in ny and just can you not take into account how much my parents can afford @albert69

jayhoops1798 - I find some queries about family finances unnecessarily intrusive, myself, but they are an essential component in the picture. No college is a safety if you cannot afford it. If money is no object whatsoever, then NYU might be close to a safety (provided you’re not applying to Stern); I’d call it a Match. If you’re a NY resident, one of the SUNYs might be a better safety. BU and GWU are also legendarily nasty about aid, although you might well qualify for a nice merit package at either. I don’t know how UMD is, but many state colleges have little aid available for out-of-state applicants. You don’t have to provide specific information about your financial circumstances. I wouldn’t do that either, and - as I’ve said - some parties on CC can be pretty rude on the subject. The vast majority of households will find the prospect of spending $60k+ per year pretty disconcerting, and colleges like NYU and GWU cannot be counted on to meet a family’s need. Harvard and Stanford will meet need, but they are long-shots for everyone. American is an academic safety for you, I’d say, and would probably offer you some merit aid. If you’re looking for urban colleges, consider Pitt and Temple, too - they are more affordable, you would almost certainly get in, and would probably get a decent aid package (more at Temple). Pace and DePaul would be definite academic safeties for you. Tulane has a non-binding Early Action option, so you can apply there and receive a notification by Thanksgiving.

Okay then. Safeties for admission purposes would be schools with high acceptance rates. http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/highest-acceptance-rate Check out these. These are probably the extreme ends of non-selectivity. SUNY schools might be good too.

Some good safetys for you I would say could be along the lines of UMD College park, penn state, ohio state, GWU, washington state.

your tests scores and GPA are really greate as well as your EC’s…
