<p>I think if you want to support that second notion your thesis should revolve around the fact that consumers’ demands could not be satisfied adequately without the innovations of inventors and designers, and the like. </p>
<p>You could allude to a lot of things like the booming industries of the late 1800s (railroad!) well as recent technological advances such as the computer. If the creativity to to invent such things wasn’t there, then consumer demands couldn’t really be appeased, right? I would possibly to something on the Wright Brothers, as well.</p>
<p>But these are all obvious references.
You could even try talking about the current healthcare system and Obama’s desire to creatively alter it to satisfy consumers. Something relevant today I’m sure would score big points and would be a bit easier to elaborate on.</p>
