Help with Short Answer for NYU supplement?

The prompt is:What intrigues you? Tell us about one work of art, scientific achievement, piece of literature, method of communication, or place in the world (a film, book, performance, website, event, location, etc.), and explain its significance to you.

I am applying for the Tisch film program. Would an essay about my love for documentaries be acceptable? Since it doesn’t explicitly say we can talk about a “genre” that intrigues us.

Yes that would be perfect but the quality of your essay depends on the details. What did you have in mind?

I just did this supplement and wrote about the book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. It’s way easier if you try picking one specific thing (in your case, a documentary) because it narrows your focus. You can also add in what documentaries mean to you in your introduction or as a philosophical interpretation at the end, but I’d definitely pick one documentary rather than just a genre.
