Hello,
I’m a junior with a 4.4 weighted 3.94 unweighted GPA. After doing extensive research I have made Bowdoin #1 on my college list, however I have not been able to visit it yet. I live in California and want to play soccer in college, and want to know what Bowdoin is like, like how is the staff, environment, culture, majors, teachers, sports, outside life, etc?
Thanks!!
If you look under NESCAC, there is a lot of info on recruited athletes at Bowdoin and the rest of NESCAC. Good luck!
Have you reached out to Bowdoin’s soccer coach? If you really want to play varsity soccer, you should cast a wide net.
I am not clear whether you are trying to be a recruited/varsity soccer player, or are also interested in other soccer opportunities. For example, it looks like Bowdoin has both Men’s and Women’s Club Soccer:
One general note: Bowdoin is a highly selective college, and it looks like they only admitted 924 of 13265 applicants this cycle, just under 7%:
So to be very blunt, unless you end up recruited, I think you should be prepared for Bowdoin to be just one of many colleges you apply to, without a particularly good chance of getting admitted to Bowdoin specifically. Not just you, but anyone who does not have something like being recruited going for them, is in that same position when applying to such colleges.
And frankly, I would spend most of my effort identifying the much more likely admits where I think I would really thrive. A few applications to colleges like Bowdoin can then be added to the list, but the real meat of the list will be those other colleges since it is so likely you will end up at one of them.
Thank you for your reply yes I am in contact with him and will be attending an ID camp in the summer
