Help with writing a poem

I got an assignment for my AP English Language and Composition class and I have to write a poem about myself. I’m a really good writer, but when it comes to writing about myself, I’m not so great, especially with poems. I wanted to know if anybody can give me a structure or example of some sort of how to write a poem about myself. Remember, it’s for my AP English Language and Composition class. Thank You!

You should start by brainstorming adjectives to describe yourself. Take it step by step instead of attempting to write a whole poem at once.

If there are no length requirements, I’d write a haiku or a short series of couplets. These are the easiest - apart from free verse.

Anyway, I’m interested in why your teacher thinks that writing poetry is pertinent to AP Lang, as the AP Lang exam doesn’t test poetry at all (that’s the Lit exam), and even on the Lit exam, you’re only supposed to analyze poetry, not write poetry.
