I am a black student in high school, junior year.I live in Virginia. I have a 3.4 weighted GPA as of now, but my junior year has been going well, all As and a b+ in an AP class. I’m two years ahead in math, as I take AP CALC AB, but the issue is I am really struggling with a D in the class. I’m applying to:
VTECH
JMU
GMU
Penn State
Michigan State
Ohio State
Syracuse
UMD-College Park
I have 6 varsity letters in both track and cross country, and I have around 100 hours community service working at a retirement home. I also have minimal work experience, I was a referee for 4 years and a golf caddie for a year.
MY SAT is 1330, with a higher math than reading but I will retake it later.
I am also taking the Math 2 subject test and the US history one.
I was wondering what I should do about that class and how are my chances looking to these colleges. BTW I am either looking to be an Actuarial Scientist or a Business major of some kind.

When you apply to Penn State, apply to DUS (undecided), not Smeal (business). Smeal has a very low acceptance rate and you will have a better chance at getting in if you apply for DUS. Then you just follow your recommended academic plan just like people who started on Smeal will.
