Ok so I am kind of unsure of something. I have read, and heard, that if a student does not complete their senior year excelling in their classes considerably, that they can recieve a letter from the admissions office demanding an explanation for their failure to excel in their senior classes. Consequently they can have their admissions rescinded. I do not have that problem becuase I am anticpating A’s and B’s in all of my classes on my final transcript. However, there is a state exam that I had the opportunity to take, which is not required, but if I passed I would recieve an advanced high school diploma. But, even if I did take this exam, I would not be able to gain an advanced diploma becuase I needed one more exam which I was not eligible to take. The administration in my school informed the students that the exam was mandatory. I doubted that becuase my school has a history of making certain requirments for students that would benefit it statistically. We, the students, knew that the exam, as well as others, was not required for graduation. I did not want to take the exam beucase I am not good in that particular subject area and I felt I was ill-prepared. Also, administration encouraged students to take the exam beucase colleges use the scores for placement. However, I took a SAT 2 Subject test for my placement at UNC and I have already registered for classes using that score. So since I didn’t expect to do well on the exam and it would have no purpose other than self-gratification becuase it would not be used for placement , should I have taken it anyway? Will UNC send me a greivance becuase I did not take the exam even though it had no purpose?

What’s the name of this exam? You should be able to access UNC’s requirements online, and since you’ve been accepted and registered for classes already, I can’t see there’s a problem. I never heard of an “advanced high school diploma.” Is this in NC or OOS?

Its OOS. Math B Regents Exam.

its not that bad of an exam…im from NY too.
and i suck at math. got a 90.

so its too late for u to take it now?

Ah, okay; thanks. The Regents Exams sound like SAT II Subject Tests. Again, if you’ve already used your SAT II Math for placement, then I wouldn’t think it would matter about this. You could call Admissions and ask to be absolutely sure, but if this Regents Exam is not required in your state and you’ve already used the SATII, I can’t see any reason to take it.

Just believe yourself, try your best to do things you think right.

I’m from NY too and I don’t really think UNC is going to be looking at our Regents scores too much. That’s more for SUNY schools.
