Help !!

I received a call from NYU that they still haven’t received my main transcript, which I requested to be sent back in November. The NYU lady said she needs the transcript by this week because they want to wrap up the decisions, but the problem is, none of my school administration is at work this week because it’s spring break. What rotten luck ! What should I do? I told the NYU lady that I would try my best to get in contact with my school, but I even called my public school headquarters and they say only my school can access my transcript. Would it appropriate to call my counselor at her home number? Or should I ask NYU if there’s any way they can wait until the following week for my transcript ? I really need your advice !! NYU is one of my top choices and I really want to be considered for admission .

I would call the counselor- afterall while I understand that they are very busy especially in public schools- that is also part of their job to send out transcripts in a timely fashion.
If you email her ( Idont know if your school staff responds to email better than calling- I would also cc the principal)
Goodluck

Call your counselor at her home number. This is a very high priority! Once you get it, ask them to Fedex it.

Thanks for responding. I was worried that it would be rude to call my counselor since it is vacation for her too, but I suppose I have no other choice.

it’s not rude for you to call your counselor at home to do something that should have s/he should have already taken care of. If your custodial staff is at work this week (most are) she should have not problem getting into the school to take care of this. If you are apprehensive about calling have your parents do so, that will put a fire under them.

Thinking worst case scenario: in case GC can’t be reached–

Do you have copies of your report cards put away at home? Could you send these in as an interim facsimile “transcript,” to be verified by the official transcript from school by next week?

If you can get to the GC have her FAX & Fed Ex it. Less time is lost this way.

I contacted my counselor, and she says she doesn’t have access to those records (transcripts), since it is the registrar’s responsibility, but she said she would call the nyu admissions and ask if they could wait for another week since there was nothing in her power that could have the transcript sent this week because the administration at our school is off for vacation. I really really really hope the adcom accepts. In the meantime, I did fax a transcript I have which extends only through the second semester of eleventh grade, so second semester 11th grade is really all that’s missing. I hope this whole mess doesn’t ruin my chances. Oh and I appreciate all of your help parents. : ]

If your applicationis incomplete, you may end up being waitlisted

What about the report card idea as an interim way of giving the grade info to the adcom so it can be evaluated-- if the counselor were to verify that they were accurate report cards & the transcript came to confirm?

Yes, I did send two report cards which included the two semesters missing on that other transcript. Thanks for the good idea SBMom !

good, I’m glad you did that. That way they can make the evaluation.
