Good afternoon.
I am a senior year student from Argentina (South America) which is desesperate for answers. My situation is the following: I have taken business classes since the 9th grade and I am in love with that subject. So I am def interested in NYU Leonard N. Stern School of Business. As my school covers Argentine AND british syllabus, it is not usual that the school measures averages in the form of GPA. As my research on this subject has showed, in the united states, gpa averages increase if you are taking AP courses. In my case, I am taking IB courses, therefore should the GPA be measured as AP courses? (Basically IB and AP have the same level of difficulty).
Other doubts:

When applying to NYU, I will apply as an International Student. Therefore would this attract the university? Or this is not taken into account? Or this is just what they look for: diversity in the university? What percent of the student body is international?

How important are letters of recomendation? Essays? What would the admission office look at first: essays or the student´s cv? I have heard that there is an elimination proces?

My history records at school hold: french exams, Igcse (I took 7 subjects including business) and I will be taking 7 IB (international bacc- including business high and economics high) this year. My question is the following: would my classes and exams on business and economics highlight my interests in business?

In which way can I stand out from all argentine students applying to NYU? only academics? community service?

any advices on how to get into nyu would be great!

Thank you for your time (and thank you for reading all this jajajja)

As for the transcripts, if your school does not calculate GPA, you just need to send in the translated – in English, obviously – version of the transcripts. That’s what I did. I applied to NYU from Europe, and got accepted…

International will defiantly help you, but I hope you or your family can afford NYU on your own. NYU is known for its horrible Financial Aid and thats with government help, like pell grants. Good luck!

Im in Pakistan…and i JUST GOT IN! Yippee for me!
But not Stern…LSP…
I have SUCKY SAT scores so thats why i didnt apply to Stern…I plan on transferring internally… Even though it ***** hard =p
So all i sent was this
O Level grades…6 A’s
A level transcript made up of As and Bs in Accounting Business studies and Applied ICT
and predicted grades A in Bus. and AICT and a B in accounting
MY SAT was 1880…i got that the seconf time…and i gave it two times again…and it still didnt go up
SAT II was math IIC 590… and literature 520
My essays are what got me in…i can honestly say that…
NYU is an artsy school
You cant be the conventional business type…you need to be new, innovative…
for example…they asked for a poem that best defines us…this was mine.
Take out my heart and put it on a thin paper
Empty its contents and draw up my schemes
So far fetched and distant from reality
Dreamers deem them dreams
Now I realease my brain from its bony captivation
Bludgeon it to find the keys to success
Because give up I shall not and try I will
To make dreams, realities and to further progress.

NYU is a great school…you need to have an idea what they look for… i think its a PERFECT fit for me… and apparently they thought so too cuz im in…LSP! and thats like a second chance for people who are awesome fits but have some weakness in their apps…
anyways…sorry for rambling =D hope i answered your question
