Helped need with mortgage backed security interview

I’m having an interview with Freddie Mac next week. The internship is about trading mortgage backed securities. Anyone has a clue about what questions they would ask? What’re the risks of mortgage backed securities and how are they related to interest rate?

Any help is appreciated.

I wouldn’t expect them to ask you highly detailed questions so just a broad overview should help. I haven’t included anything on mortgage derivatives (IOs, POs etc) but if you need that then I can post resources on that as well. Here are a few from Pimco:

Another primer: http://www.finpipe.com/mbs.htm

Decent wikipedia article as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortgage-backed_security

Thanks so much mahras2!

However, I just received a call. My interview got cancelled. Freddie Mac people misread my resume and thought I was a third year. I’m actually only a second year. Considering they only took 7 candidates from 150+ pool, it’s definitely a confidence booster for me. I still have an interview with Blackrock though.

Good luck with blackrock. Are you trying out for an investment analyst intern there?

Untilted> You welcome. Good luck with BlackRock.

yea, I seen that on their website.
