Helping Dad fix roof = EC? :)

Helping Dad fix roof = EC?
Lol, people seem to put down odds and ends as EC’s and do pretty well in admissions…

I’ve spent (and will be spending) a decent amount of time helping my dad fix the roof this summer. We’re low income, so we’re ripping and laying down a new covering ourselves. Should I write this down as an EC?

An Amherst admissions officer at my info session said listing “donating blood” placed a worthy applicant in the reject pile.

I don’t recommend listing that.

maybe you can use this experience to write your essay but definitely don’t list it as an EC

thanks for the responses. I figured I shouldn’t list it as an EC lol :)

If fixing the roof really means a lot to you, i think you should include it in the list. Maybe i have learned a lot life lessons through it:)
