Well i am currently in a psychology 101 class i need a B in the class to get into the physical therapy program .To be honest i dont like my professor way of teaching i have been trying to pull through but i can’t i failed my 2 exam with one more then finals are left now my professor doesn’t give hw ,quizzes or papers so 95% of my grade are weighted on these exams what should i do
Um. You have a couple choices. If it is still mathematically possible to pass, you should study. Use your notes from class and the readings. Go to office hours with questions. Memorize everything. Form a study group of classmates.
Or look into dropping and take it again next semester. You likely would take a W, though.
I was kinda thinking just dropping i hate her grading system
Honestly – Psych 101 was the easiest class I took in college. By a pretty wide margin. I’m kind of thinking it isn’t the prof. All grading based on exams is normal in college, too.
Psych 101 is usually offered every semester. It’s not worth risking not getting into your major over a class that is easy to retake. Drop and retake, but next time check out rate my prof and the tutoring and office hours available so you do better.
Keep in mind you may have other classes where you might not like your professor but you will have to do what it takes to get through them without having to add additional summer classes or an extra semester to graduate. When you drop a class you are losing tuition money that was spent but credit was not earned.
If you are very sure that it is too late to earn the required grade to enter a major, then I guess I would drop the class. Your post however makes me very concerned because you have not exp!aimed concrete actions you took to past thge class. Faculty are people too. If they are new to teaching, they may be disjointed in planning class !lessons writing, grading, testing requirements and the overall organization and sequencing class presentations. Faculty also have teaching styles which you can learn about and plan around. You hold the major responsibility for getting the education you want.
Irrelevant factors in your education include making social decisions about the faculty member such as whether you like the teacher, agree with teaching style or requirements, choice to often, approve tests, papers, etc. College level teaching is very different than high school. In college, students are responsible for everything even if not taught in class, tests are few and cover lots of material of various complexity, and so on. There are no do overs, extra credit assignments, extended time and due dates, individual teaching of class content, and other efforts to help you get a better grade. There is no homework other than working independently on assignments and reading. Many like study groups and others learn alone. Actually co!legs prepares you to work independent!y, work with all sorts of bosses and colleagues and develop new skills.
You do need to rethink what college is and how to negotiate it. The first semester is often the worst. You’ll get the hang of it and how you will prosper there.
