<p>The cost to attend Tulane will increase $1,610 for the 2011 - 12 academic year. As of the 2010 fiscal year, tuition accounted for 32.6 percent of Tulane’s overall revenue. Total cost is broken up into four main categories: tuition, the academic support fee, the student health fee and the student activity fee. Each fee covers a different component of student life.</p>

<p>“Tuition is one of the main sources of income for the university’s operation expenses,” Budget Office Director Eugene Meyers said.</p>

<p>Tuition has steadily increased over the past several years. For the 2000 - 01 academic year, total tuition was $25,390 — $18,104 less than it will cost next year. Since then, all four categories that make up tuition have risen slightly each year to cover costs. Since Hurricane Katrina, however, Tulane has been operating at a loss.Tuition increases for upcoming year

<p>Why would one of the most expensive schools in the country raise its prices? Already financially infeasible, this school is slowly becoming less and less of a prospect… too bad this is my dream school.</p>
