Here's a good question: What if I fail?

As we’re all getting ready to get accepted into colleges as transfers, there is one possibly that we might consider…what if we fail a class?

What if things just don’t work out, or you bomb a huge final and fail the course?

Do you retake the course next semester, apply in the spring (UC Merced only lol)? Next fall?

Is your college career over?
Do you work at McDonald’s? Olive Garden?

You can get your admission revoked. Retake the class and reapply.

Hang myself
Kill myself slowly from a pure fast food diet.
Get into drugs/alcohol - things I have NEVER used - to ease the pain.

These are all serious considerations. I refuse to spend another year in this hell hole they call CC. There is a small risk of my failing my second composition class.

Tell yourself you won’t and pass that goddamn class.

Tell yourself you won’t and pass that goddamn class.

What he said. You can also buy focus factor and caffeine pills in bulk for hella cheap. I’ve tried both and they both work. One 4-day, stressful weekend, all I had to eat were focus factor pills, water, and cup o noodles while studying 14 hours a day. I was so productive you wouldn’t even… I wish I could do that for an entire semester.

I’ve never failed a class where I didn’t give up. I think that’s the key - don’t give up.

Always stay positive. Even if it comes down to hoping for a B or a C in your worst nightmare class lol.

Yeah, just do your best and stay positive! It’s not too far into this semester so just try to stay on top of everything. Well, I’m not saying this is happening to you–just going with the hypothetical situation.

In the case that things don’t go the way you want them to, you can just try again later… I know that’s probably a horrible scenario and I don’t even want to think about it, but it doesn’t mean your college career is over.

P.S. I happen to like Olive Garden D:

Also, any college student worth their weight in caffeine pills can ace the military exams and get any job within reason in the military, which will make you disciplined, good-looking, and attractive to universities when (hopefully) you come back. That or get a real estate license.

The military makes you good-looking? O:

:D

is it a prereq? for igetc?

Well I’m not saying I’m going to fail or give up, but there is a possibility that things go downhill in a couple of my classes. I’m taking multivariable calculus and differential equations/linear algebra at the same time and it’s starting to get a little rocky. So I started thinking about the possibility of failing or getting a D or two C’s. They are prereqs for me.

Cs are generally not what students aspire to but you can live with them if you have already been accepted somewhere. However, you absolutely can not get a D or an F or your admission will be revoked. If you have to sacrifice an A in one subject to get a C in one you are failing you have to do it. Two Cs would not look good but will not harm you. An A and a D will get your admission revoked.

You’d have to wait a year to reapply.

So, follow @ Jiansen’s advice!

easy answer is…don’t fail, lol.

and @christian612 man you must really hate your cc.

I’ve never had a class where I struggled and was afraid of failing.

This is more of a question that you could only answer. Are there any problems preventing you from getting a passing grade? If the class is really hard, then tough luck.

As far as the circumstances follow, everyone above pretty much said it all.

santos you have my sympathy man! On the plus side, Linear can be kinda easy if you “get it” and since you’ve just taken calc 2 discrete will probably come easily enough.

Calc 3… otoh. Ow! Yea. Ow.
