Here's the New Year's Resolution thread.

LOL! You mean like here, on CC?

Conquer my new Wii!

Take those swing dance lessons I’ve been eyeing

Take a vacay w/JUST the hubbie! :)

Read for pleasure every day
Get back into walking daily

Be happy like I used to be.
Love everyone and everything.
Lose ten pounds?

So-o-o-ooo, how did everyone do ;)?

Here is what I posted a year ago on this thread:

1. Do not wait until December to plant “squirrel food”.

^^Achieved - did not plant any tulips this year :)

2. Finish the course I just signed up for and pass the exam.

^^It is tougher than I thought. Still working on it.

3. Take at least one class at UW Extension.

^^The class I wanted was cancelled. :frowning: Taking a class for the sake of taking a class is silly.

4. Kick H off the sofa more often and go running or biking with him.

^^Overachieved - H and I started running and watching what we eat, and both lost about 20 lb! Yay!

5. Learn to swim butterfly - no, I’m just kidding about this one

^^Of course I was kidding. I can’t swim a yard of 'fly even to save my life! But I perfected my breaststroke on Kauai :)

Try to get better at living in the moment.
Appreciate more.
Get back to the gym at least once a week. (start small)
Stop worrying about everything.
Be less of a chicken whe n it comes to going to doctors.

Bunsen: what are your resolutions for 2010? I like how specific you were. Much more achievable than “stop procrastinating”.

The short answer? Not well – which makes this year’s resolution list a repeat of last year’s.

Just one resolution:
Do a volunteer stint/job that’s meaningful for someone else.

Hey Bunsen. I actually did learn to swim butterfly in 2009. :)

For this year, I really want to attempt to make the best of every situation, rather than complain or pout or be cynical.

I didn’t post this resolution, but last year I resolved to swim 200 miles (not all at once!)
I didn’t make it, but I got close-- about 185. (About 300,000 yards, or the distance from Miami to Cuba and back.)
This year, I have resolved to go on regular evening walks with my husband, do yoga regularly instead of sporadically, and devote every Thursday to some kind of art project.

My health did improve last year, so I did not do as much swimming as I would have like. But I did drop 5 lbs without really trying. This year, I vow to be more organized. I’m in the process of throwing a lot of things away, put things in containers so the house can be less cluttered.

momof2inca - cool! ILoveLA - awesome! You guys make me want to do more swimming.

I usually don’t make resolutions, so I posted on this thread just for fun. But it was interesting to dig it up and see what I had accomplished. So here is something for me to focus on this year - I think this year my main goals will be i) de-cluttering and ii) digitizing old negatives, 16 mm movies, home videos and slides. I already got a head start on the second goal - we bought a VCR to DVD recorder, and it works!

For this year:

Eat healthier and exercise more. I’d love to lose 20 lbs, but if I just stop this weight gain and feel healthier, that will do.

Stop procrastinating. Clean out the clutter in the house.

Find a job I actually enjoy - or at least don’t hate.

Stop procrastinating. Well… maybe tomorrow…

Read the user manuals for every tech gadget in this house.
Toss out remote “clickers to nowhere.”
Make peace where there is none.

^(2 easies and a biggie)

P.S. Exercise for strength…(there, I just worked my fourth right finger!)
