@artivist247 Yeah I just saw that- ARGH- okay so that was probably someone off the waitlist, I def checked out her twitter which is creepy but she also looks hella accomplished and awesome so I’m big chilling - its weird because part of me is sad but the other part is like WAIT THESE PPL ARE SO COOL THOUGH THEY’RE GONNA KILL IT
Hi guys! Just wanted to drop in because I am someone accepted for this year, and I thought it may be good to give my opinion super quickly. Please do not fall into the trap of comparisons. It is so easy to put yourself down when in this mindset. HERlead is about girls uplifting girls! Your acceptance or rejection does NOT define your project’s, nor your own worth. I have been rejected from countless, countless programs similar, and I have no fancy awards at all to prove myself with. Create projects you love for the purpose of spreading joy and love, especially in such a stressful time. Whoever you are, you are so great, and I believe in all your future endeavors!!
@artivist247 and @retan1 Where did you see that people posted that they got in?
Also everyone, thanks for all of the suggestions of programs to try. I thought I had searched the web pretty thoroughly, but didn’t know about the last 2 suggestions. Any other ideas of things to try for?

That actually could be so cool @aspiringtoart! we could make a forum on cc or something if you want. Even if we don’t get in it might actually be super helpful to talk to each other about our projects or other programs. I’m sure everyone who applied is so talented and has a lot of cool ideas so it would be cool to network with each other more. We might be able to get something really cool out of a rejection. Let me know if anyone is interested!
Hi all, I am also awaiting a response this year, though not holding out too much hope…really wish they would just make a waitlist or announce exactly how they’re doing results since whole process seems designed to promote anxiety in applicants…
Regardless, wishing everyone good luck, and for those of you who submitted videos (including those who were accepted), when you look at the YouTube analytics, can you see when your video was viewed? If only you and Herlead had access to it, then that viewing would likely have been when they reviewed your application I think.
I am totally up for that, lets create something positive! What do you guys think about starting an instagram for everyone to follow and then make a group chat from that?
Something to remember is how the mentors at HERlead never had such a program when starting out. To my fellow juniors, though we may not be able to receive this fellowship (time will tell), one day perhaps you may be mentoring other young girls, telling them that your success was due to that of your own mettle/strength. The best determiner of persona is not what you do before any let-downs or challenges, but what you do after. Especially during this time of crisis, remember to be kind to yourself. Sometimes doing your best means resting and not taking on too much work, which is just as valid/important.
Definitely! We should try to make sure it’s safe for everyone and I think that’s a pretty good way to do it. This could really turn into something awesome! What should we call ourselves lol
I know this sounds cheesy but what about, HoldingUpGirls? Any other ideas? We are getting so creative lol
haha yeah. I like that name!
@colorado89039 @art2022 That sounds amazing! In terms of naming, I think that it should be something positive, regardless of future results.
Ah yes!! That sounds awesome!
I just created an account. Its username is holdingupgirlss. Please go follow!
I’ve been wanting to start a non-profit for a really long time, and that was something I was hoping to learn from HERlead but I think this could be really awesome!
Why don’t we wait until we all get our decisions? I can pm everyone interested. Then, we all can figure out where to go from there?
^So, we can all spitball ideas.
Before doing anything quickly. And so we can all have an equal say.
@aspiringtoart i’m interested!
@aspiringtoart Yes sure! I just don’t want to give out my private information so that’s why I think it’s important we communicate on a platform that doesn’t give out your information.
