Hey, Helicopter Moms (and Dads)!

This Valentine’s Day, you could follow the lead of a mom from Towson University, MD., who has been spotted strolling the campus and producing her cellphone to likely looking prey - asking if they’d like to have a date with her son! LOLOL! Imagine her son’s reactions to that!!!

My son would never speak to me again and rightfully so. Just so bizarre.

My Ds would be mortified, humiliated, and angry. Actually, they would probably worry that I was suffering a sudden mental illness, because that is not my normal MO.

If she’s really the boy’s mother, it’s creepy and weird. Since I really can’t fathom any mother actually doing this, I think it must be more. I have a vivid imagination. I wonder if she’s somehow trying to capture attractive females and subject them to human trafficking.

The school is working to get her to stop. I’d also wonder what more is going on—I’d be concerned about this woman’s mental health. Does she honestly think this is the way to go about helping her son? If I were the kid, I’d be mortified too!

Wingmom.

The police response is over the top, IMO, as is the college. She’s out of line, but what’s the crime? Talking to strangers? Everything is offensive these days. This is a matter between the son and his mom. Helpfully he will soon discover what she is up to and that will be the end of that.

My inlaws live down the road from the university and local chatter is this woman was trolling for girls for human sex trafficking-that’s why the heavy police involvement.

How do parents find the time to do this? My kids and I are close and my husband and I are and always have been reasonably involved parents, but H and I both work full time. Even, if we didn’t work full time, we still have enough going on, that we’d be way too busy to drive to our kid’s college campus and solicit dates for them…
We would never do anything like this obviously, but I’m wondering where all this free time comes from?

Unfortunately, I have a sister who felt that it was her duty to set up her kids (4). All epic fails!

This situation is just scary!
Why would any of those young women seriously consider this mental, abusive fruitcake???
