Hi, can anybody recommend me universities to apply?

This morning, I got a denied from WashU. Now, I have to re-apply schools. However, I am not sure where should I apply. Can anybody give me some advice? I am planning to go to an art major. But, I don’t want to go to the art schools because I want to study with people with various interests… My art teacher said that try to apply YALE. (she said, who knows?). But I feel it is not going to work since I have low act score, an international student, and already rejected from WashU.

My scores are
ACT 28
IELTS 7.0
GPA 3.9

I am in NHS, Student Council, created an art club (NAHS), used to be in track team, volunteering at the variety places, and obviously have talent in art. please help me out…

You won’t get in to yale. I think your IELTS score is decent? Your ACT won’t be strong enough for any of those top schools, especially as an international admit.

I’m not sure what art schools are good, but I’ve heard that a LOT of their admissions will be based on your portfolio, while just looking at your test scores less. Look for some schools that do that. I can;t say what they are, but search around, find some schools. Their acceptances are harder to gauge without knowing how your portfolio will look.

wesleyan is test optional, so you could probably get in on your gpa alone without the act. they have great arts!

@tarantinq You do realize Wesleyan’s admit rate is sub 20%, right? “Could probably get in” is a pretty bold statement.

@doschicos i didn’t mean they definitely would, i just mean based on gpa alone they’re competitive for selective but test-optional schools like wesleyan

At the bottom of this page is a list of colleges that aren’t exclusively art schools but offer strong programs in art - sounds like exactly what you’re looking for! With the exception of Yale/Williams/Princeton/etc., I think you would have a good shot at many of them (though some more than others - there is quite a range of selectivity on the list). To help you narrow it down, consider what size school you’d prefer and in what kind of location.

You could read through here for further ideas:

Beyond the schools listed there, look into Centre, Cornell College and Southwestern.

if majoring in art meadows could be for you

So far, I got into The New School Parsons with $40,000 scholarship and UIUC in Honors Program. I am still searching schools that have possibilities that I can make. Thank you for the information. I am reading every comments thrououghly!

There are plenty of possibilities on the list I linked to. It sounds like you’re looking for medium to large schools, so check out: American University, BU, Northeastern, NYU, RIT, Syracuse University, U Delaware

I second University of Delaware and Syracuse.
