Hi everybody, new user, looking for an honest evaluation please!

First of all I just want to say I’m really impressed with this site and with the courtesy and helpfulness of all you who respond to these countless posts, there is a very good atmosphere here.

My name is Will, im going to be a senior next year, im white, from illinois, and both my parents went to NIU. I am not interested in science or math, but instead looking at a communications/liberal arts focus in college…

My top choice/reach is UPenn, and i am probably going to apply ED.
My next choices, in order, are Dartmouth, Northwestern Medill, Wash U in St. Louis, Michigan, Tufts, and Missouri.

Please evaluate my profile here honestly and frankly, believe me, I know I am not top material but I do know how unstable the application process is and I think I might be able to slip through to one of my top choices.

SAT: 690 Math, 740 Reading, 740 Writing, 12 essay.
ACT: 32 Composite, 35 Reading, 35 English, 31 Math, 28 Science.
GPA: 3.92/4.00, 1 B+ sophomore year, rest A’s and A-'s
AP’s: AP Euro, AP BC Calc, AP Chem, AP Span Lang — senior year: AP English, AP Stats, AP Span Lit.
EC’s:

Please, any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated!

Very good chances, though I’ve been told you need 700+ on all sections. Congrats on your perfect SAT essay.

UPenn (ED)- slight reach
Dartmouth- reach
Northwestern- slight reach
WashU- slight reach
Tufts- very slight reach/match
Michigan- match
Missouri- safety

Wow thanks for the quick feedback - gumball, i KNOW AGH! how could i not get a 700+ on the math! it seems like everyone gets an 800 on that section-at least on this website.

hey again, i feel kind of bad doing this just to bump up my post to get more replies, but i WANT more replies! what do you think my chances are at Penn ED? i forgot to mention a possible hook: i have already talked personally with Undergrad Admissions Dean Lee Stetson and he seemed positive, even talked to me about working in his office if i got in…

anyways, if you dont think i have any chance at penn ED, could anyone advise any “safer” schools that have strong journalism/communications programs?
