<p>Essays: Either they’re going to blow the adcoms out of the water or they’re going to think that i’m a stuck up idiot. From the responce I’ve gotten from my (rather literate) friends and parents, it should be the former. I’m also going to write a little piece on the legal issues surrounding restriction of jurisdiction in constitutional rights cases as a suppliment, hoping to impress the yale adcoms.</p>

<p>Recs: One’s going to be glowing, the other realistic but still supportive. GC rec unknown, but leaning towards a good solid recommendation of my character.</p>

<p>You have a better than average chance at Yale and Amherst, will probably be accepted at U of Chicago and UVA, and will almost certainly be accepted at Rochester and UD.</p>

<p>Any ideas of where else I should apply? I’m looking for a smallish liberal arts school that also has a large focus on the sciences, and hope to go into a law related field.</p>

<p>Yes :). Not many people have heard of it, I think I’m going to have to write a supplimental essay on my school itself because it’s so weird. Apparantly Amherst hasn’t gotten a single applicant from CSW ever…</p>

In no particular order, Skidmore, Hamilton, Conn College, Wesleyan, Williams, Kenyon would all have significant overlap with Amherst.</p>

<p>Your grades/scores/rank are fine and just the starting point. What will either get you in or keep you out will be your essays, ECs and recommendations. </p>

<p>Assuming that your essays and recs will be strong, you need to focus and amplify your ECs. I’m not a “science” person and I really can’t tell from your description whether your accomplishments are off the charts or just ordinary. I’d suggest that you work on putting together a resume that better showcases what you’ve done.</p>

<p>Your essays should be about YOU, not legal briefs. It also helps if whatever you choose to write about in your essay is reflected in your ECs and recommendations. You’re interested in law, good. Now what have you done (recently) to feed that interest?</p>

Re: essays, well, the thing is that I mostly read, running from law blogs (volokh, balkin) to cases to a very small number of books (law not being a real popular thing where I live), and I don’t see what else I can do besides a pseudo-opinion piece. I think it should show that I’m passionate about it, at least slightly competent, and can write, but I think I’d only send it to Yale at this point as a supplimental essay, not as a common app essay. I’m thinking about recycling my UoC essay for the common app, as it gets across my nature - I read a lot, but I’m kinda frivilous at the same time.</p>
