Hi I'm new can you chance me! Thanks.=)

Hi,

I just want to be chanced because I’m coming to the end of my (2nd) Sophomore year, I’m going to be a five year senior because I decided to repeat to go to boarding school.

So anywho. I go to boarding school in New York, I’m originally from California, and I just want to go back home to go to school. The only schools that I’m really considering are UCLA, USC, UCI, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barbara. I REALLY want to get into UCLA

So yeah. I just want to know, by the things below what you think and chance me!

SO this year in school I have a GPA of 86.89 ( I think this translates into a 3.6-3.8 range)
I took Hon. PreCal, English 10, Physics, Spanish 2(my second year, but i was in public school before so I think there is a difference) World History 2.

In my 1st sophomore year(in Cali) I took Hon Alg.2, Hon. History, Hon. Chemistry, English 10, Spanish 2. i had like a gpa of 3.5 or 3.6 ish.

On my PSAT I got a 164 which is a 1640. I did better than 86% of sophomores in the country i think. And on the PLAN i got a 26

Next year, my schedule will either be American studies ( which is english and History combined and gives a lot of work, but I don’t know how that would look to colleges) AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry.

Or

Ap US history, English 11 ,AP Calculus AB, Chemistry

I know for sure I am going to take a SAT Class, but I just want to know AM I on the right track?

Any extra-curricular’s? I don’t think you would get in on that 3.6 GPA alone. You’re only a sophomore, so you still have a lot of time to do things, but by next year, you should step up your game by getting a higher GPA, high SAT score (around the high 1000’s), and some extra-curricular’s. You’re taking an average amount of AP classes (7-9 by the end of your senior year should be good), so spot on with that!

oh yea! I forgot about the extra curriculars! I played basketball in my freshman and first sophomore year. Had a job the summer of my freshman year, I volunteer at my grandma’s Christmas events every year and at a local hospital. I am the vice president of the ONYX club at my new school, I play volleyball as of now, and I participate in our MUN club too. I am going to start playing club volleyball outside of school in club, and (if this counts) I play my trumpet and piano at separate events and things. I also do a little photography and ceramics. I’m technically apart of Art Club, but they never do anything…sooo… i dont know about that one.

I’m wondering if I do too much…now that I see it written down and all. And I still feel like I’m leaving things out. I am trying to become a doctor(not really sure what kind yet) or lawyer so the hospital stuff is for the experience.

So yea…that seems about it.

Well spot on with the extra-curricular’s as well. But try to show that you’ve obtained some leadership skills from your clubs and sports. Become a VBall/Bball co-captain or try to manage the Art club more so you can actually do things. Since your musically talented, why not join your school’s Concert/Marching Band, if available (and become 1st chair lol)?

You just need to show that you’re a little more than just member in each club you’re in. We can all become members of a club and do nothing to lead them…

You’ve done a lot though, and it’s impressive. Keep up the good grades, good test scores, and good work!

EDIT: Lol I completely skipped over the fact your VP of the ONYX club. Good job, but like they say, the more the merrier lol.

Oh okay! I understand! I was thinking about becoming the President of the Art Club for next year, I mean I love ART! lol. So that’s one option. And Becoming anything in particular for MUN…I can’t really do because I’m new to the whole thing and still don’t quite understand it. I mean, I might still be in it next year, or I might not. I’m not sure. So I might cross that off my list. ANd as for being in the school orchestra…NO. lol I’m sorry to say, but they suck. But when I was in middle school I was the Drum Major, if that counts for anything!lol. But i might try it out and make the thing better. lol. I been playing for 5 years now. =)…

But thanks so much for chancing me! Do you go to any UCs right now?

I’m sure you would be a great acquisition to the Orchestra then! Yous should join.

I’m actually just a senior who got accepted to UC Irvine, Davis, and Santa Cruz. I’m going to Irvine in Fall 2011, but I’m just trying to help you out as best as I can lol.

Thanks JGod! it really is nice that your helping! Which one out of the three are you going to?

UCI…lol…

Oh Ok! I hope you love it there. I visited there way back when I was training for Drum Major and we had our camp at the campus. I love it! It was pretty nice. That is one of the reasons why its one of my options. If you don’t mind me asking…what are you majoring in? Or did you apply undeclared?
