  • I know there are many great boarding schools missing from this list- especially some amazing all boy and all girls schools! ( I'm sorry. I did this list off the top of my head and I'm old so forgive me. )
  • If you would like to provide a College Matriculation List for your BOARDING SCHOOL below- Please do and please feel free to discuss the lists. Thanks!

Loomis is a “Hidden Gem?”

Do you see a lot of people obsessing over Loomis on CC? I don’t- which is somewhat tragic. It’s only a Gem for this purpose and so are a few other schools on the list. Let’s just call them “Gems for a Day”.

True, but I just chalked it up to coincidence in the applicant pool. There are quite a few acronym schools that have been quiet here lately. Regardless, thanks for the links.

I don’t really see anyone obsessing here about anything OTHER than Exeter or Andover, Groton, Deerfield and St. Paul’s are virtually ignored relative to those 2

I’m obsessing over some schools I’m choosing not to name.

I started this thread so people can look at College Matriculation Reports from some wonderful Boarding Schools rarely mentioned on CC . Just providing info ( all on one thread ) that might be of interest to some people…

it was very nice of you to put them all in one place and is very helpful
thank you

Thank you @PhotographerMom‌ Adding Episcopal High School, otherwise known in the South as “The High School.” Located in Alexandria, VA (7 miles from White House).

So folks can move from obsessing over certain boarding schools to obsessing over certain colleges?
Honestly, there are so many great colleges out there (more so than boarding schools), and once you get past the Ivies and a dozen or two others, you’re left with many, many wonderful colleges reachable from any of the schools above.

@doschicos: I think the purpose of reviewing these lists is more about STOPPING the obsession with the very few boarding schools mentioned here (ad nauseum). Such lists may also reassure readers that there are MANY good colleges out there…so the advice would be more along the “not to worry” spectrum. By seeing how many great colleges kids from “hidden gem” schools attend, maybe people will see that broadening their boarding school search does not limit opportunities down the road. But maybe I misunderstood your comment.

My comment was “somewhat” tongue in cheek - hence the winky face which doesn’t really look like a winky face - and I am totally onboard with stopping obsession over a small list of the so-called “top tier” boarding schools. However, focusing on college matriculation of boarding schools can turn into an obsession over what secondary schools lead to the “best” colleges. Are folks going to look at these lists to see the breadth and range of colleges on them or count up the number of USNews top 20 colleges and universities? Many conversations in this forum focus on Ivy et al colleges so just stating let’s not replace one obsession with another.

’ Tis the Season ( for college admissions ) but that’s not the point of the thread- and I think most people get that. The thread is meant to be informative- and maybe show some very impressive Matriculation Reports from schools not often discussed here. Nothing more- Nothing less.

I’m the mom of two “Top Tier” BS grads and one kid currently at a “Hidden Gem” . If someone from a “Top Tier” school wants to derail this thread and display mind-numbing insecurity- that’s their problem. It doesn’t bother me at all…

So- let’s just go with it! Thanks.

Nice job, PhotoMom!
