What are some awesome specific things about Brown that I don’t already know (i.e. besides new curriculum, freedoms, laid back atmosphere, really cool and wicked smart people)?

Doesn’t it make it more fun when finding these gems is serendipitous?

I suppose. I’m just looking for really cool things about Brown that I don’t already know

Can you be a little more specific? Do you want classes, places to go in pvd, places to go on campus, etc?

Classes/places to go on campus/what’s Providence like?

^ If you check a recent thread about Brown students answering questions (and the older versions of that thread), they have a lot of insight on Classes/Providence as for cool places, I know lots of people enjoy frequenting roofs…and places like the GCB become more of a gem as you get older. Also (depending on where you live) you may find some tunnels.

India Point Park is pretty nice, but it’s sort of out of the way if you live on Pembroke. It is a decent, short run from Pembroke, though.

Wickenden…less people know about it than I previously assumed. Or maybe they know about it but just don’t venture out there.

^ Ya I’m just too lazy, but I love Sakura… w/e. Still a definite plus for Brown :D.

Hidden Gems… hm… how about that it’s actually impossible to fail a class at Brown (a lot of people didn’t know this a couple years ago when my class was applying). You get NC, which doesn’t go on the transcript. As if you never took the class.

Dorm parties are definitely a gem at Brown. IMO some of the best parties are dorm parties. Except Archibald 5th floor lounge is kinda old. To you '15, it gets too hot. find somewhere else.

The most important gem: Brown doesn’t run us. We run Brown. the students are pretty much the soul of Brown and the administration rarely will interfere with student run activities (except for parties with alcohol, but they just kind of make sure that anyone without a wristband doesn’t get a drink. completely understandable).

ETA (places I discovered during senior week)

India Point Park (and Wickenden in general. lovelovelove). A lot of Wickenden restaurants are BYOB so you can go there with a bottle of wine with your friends if that’s what you want.

Downtown. Lots of interesting places for you to find (there’s an abandoned nightclub for example). There’s lots of venues (Club Hell, Coliseum, etc) that are generally 18+. Those aren’t really secret though, but it’s fun to go before it gets too cold to walk there!

Duck and Bunnie Cupcakes on Wickenden!
lots of out of the way secret study places in unoccupied classroom buildings etc (all secret or else someone would find them!)
Using the bus pass (free) there are all kind of cool places to go with friends if you make the effort: the zoo, Newport, etc
RI has the best New England diving, and I hear the Dive club is being revitalized when the pool opens (Lobster anyone?)

Oh, and add the organ (pipe type, not bio) concerts. Really cool! (do they still do the Halloween one in the dark?)

The Halloween one existed while I was there (class of 09)

I would also recommend the paw sox (red sox minor league team) at the beginning/end of the school year as well as brown’s own football games. Football games made for some great Saturdays.

The midnight organ concerts still happen. Definitely.

Everything west of South Main, excluding the mall.
