High ACT, low SAT...

Before I could ask, my transcript will show my low SAT score. Will colleges only look at my much higher ACT score insteaad of my SAT? Kind of freaking out.

Bump???

It depends on where you’re applying. Look for schools with Score Choice if possible. Also remember coastal schools value the SAT far more than the Midwest/South.

What if I am appyling to the east coast? Will they still take it into consideration?

You need to look at the actual university web site. They typically will state if they superscore. If they do then they will take the ACT over the SAT.

East Coast colleges due take both and do not put more weight on one test over another. In a strange way, it can help because it shows more about the student. For example ACT has M and Sci. whereas the SAT does not have that break down, thus if you do great on one, but not the other, it can show the school your actual strength instead of the broad stroke for the SAT. This can help when applying for a specific major. For example, let’s say you want to be a poli sci major, you will be taking some forms of math (econ), but science is not a big issue. That higher M will allow them to see you can handle courses like econ or stats and might lower their concerns about math courses you will have to take.

That being said east coast kids typically do not take the ACT, but spend their time taking the SAT.
