I am a rising senior at UNC Chapel Hill. I have a 3.9 GPA in math/econ, 760 GMAT, fraternity and volunteer involvement, the whole works. What I am wondering is if I could get funding for any professional programs as a Canadian. What I am most interested in is a Master of Accounting right now. I’m not looking to apply to Stanford, Harvard, or anything fancy. I’m wondering if, with my super high GMAT score and my strong application, a more modestly ranked program will want to give me funding. If you could provide me with any resources to start doing my research on programs to apply to, I would be very grateful!
High caliber international with U.S degree from top college – any chance of funding for grad school?
I should specify that I am unwilling to apply to any programs in Canada. This is not an option that I want y’all to consider in your answers, and I respectfully request that you don’t question my decision. Also, I forgot to mention that I have good internship experience. Thanks so much!
In general professional programs expect you to self-fund and this has nothing to do with nationality. However, there might be programs that will provide strong applicants with a partial scholarship.
^What @xraymancs said. What you will need to do is do some research and find programs at which you are a top applicant that offer scholarships to students. Most programs won’t offer any scholarships - since accounting is a professional program and they expect you to bear the cost of your own education.
I thought you were going to ask about econ programs and that would be a different story, but no I don’t think you are going to be in luck. The best you could try is to see if a different department would offer you a teaching assistantship, you wouldn’t be able to get one from your own department, which makes it even less likely. Or you could, of course, to to Canada.
@BrownParent I was in luck lol.
Good for you!
