I’m from Pittsburgh, PA. OSU is my dream school. I fell in love with it when I visited this fall. I am from a very competitive public high school which sends 10 kids to Ivies per year. I have completed honors course 9-12th grade. I took 2 AP’s Junior year and 3 AP’s Senior year. I have a 3.75 UW GPA (70/275 rank), 4.3 W, but my SAT is 1610, which I know may be low for OSU. My ECs are tremendous. I want to major in Public Affairs and I focused my ECs on leadership and politics. I helped write Pittsburgh legislation as an intern for Pittsburgh City Council, I was a steering committee member of a 4 state public policy think thank, I worked on numerous political campaigns, and I have a letter of recommendation from the President of the Pittsburgh City Council. My essay was very good according to three English teachers. I am nervous about my SAT scores. It eats away at
me daily. Chance me please. be honest.

hey homerun1992! my sat’s are very similar to yours, my sat is a 1620, and it kills me because i have a 3.6 UW GPA, top 10% of my class, all honors and 3 AP’s, tons of EC’s and everything. honestly though, i think we both have a good shot. although our SAT’s are somewhat low for OSU, i hope they will still consider us, and trust me, don’t worry too much, you will drive yourself crazy! :)

Haha, so I’m not sure if you guys have already applied and gotten in yet, but if you’re talking SATs as in Math + Critical Reading, believe me you both will get in. My stats are somewhat the same, top 10%, 32 ACT, 7 APs and lots of ECs and I not only got in to OSU, but also the Honors Program.

So basically, if you haven’t heard back yet, I’m positive you guys have a great chance at getting in.

thank you hayden7543! i haven’t heard back yet…but i’m hoping i’ll hear back soon because i am going crazy! thank you thoughh!:)

A M+CR SAT score of 1610 or 1620 would be VERY impressive, indeed.

You guys should’ve taken the ACT to see if you could’ve done better on that. I know I wouldn’t have scored nearly as high on the SAT, personally, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys could improve your chances by taking the ACT. I’d imagine you’ve already applied, but if you’re deferred, you might still be able to use the scores from the Feb. ACT test date.

same boat but opposite…i have a lowish gpa of 3.4 but a pretty good ACT score of 28…i feel like they defer/waitlist people who have a lower of one but i realllly hope not!

haha my SAT is all three, so it’s not good at alll. lol but i did take the ACT i am just waiting for my scores…i sent them to OSU though :)
