High rank, low unweighted

someone help me. I am 6/653 and my uwGPA is a 3.55
I have alot of APs/IBs/Honors/Dual Enrollment from outside
of high school and inside.
I also have a several Bs and 2 Cs on my transcript.
Will my academics be a strong reason for rejection, or
does my rank in comparison (and difficulty of courseload)
make it okay?
(btw- school is in the top 20 for newsweeks irrelevant
but influential ranking)

If you really are number 6, then you should be ok. It shows that your school is tough to pull off a high gpa. What did you get the C’s in?

thanks for the uplifting response. I got the Cs in IB Chemistry and AP German.
You should know however, that other people who might also be applying to Penn from my school might have a much higher unweighted- 3.8 or so.
I have my high rank (weighted gpa) from extra classes outside of school and many APs/IBs inside. More comments amigo?

If it is Ib and Ap, then it is ok. If it was an easy joke class, then you would have to do some explaining, but your fine. Just as long as you get good test scores, your class rank will help you a lot. I know someone who has a 3.7 and is ranked first in his class. Obviously they would look at class rank and see that he is the best coming from that school. For you, 6/653 is an accomplishment. Good job.

I applied ED and got deferred and had several Bs and one C and I am not even ranked in the top 10% so don’t stress over the low unweighted gpa. That will not be the reason that you are not accepted.

my unweighted is a 3.93, i was ranked 5/564 due to my honors/ap classes weighing out my avg.

But Im pretty sure that the top 3 or 4 in my class have an unweighted 4.0, so im not sure how youll even out.

but i was accepted

Is a UW GPA of 3.55 a 95.5 or a 90.5? I can never tell what people are talking about
