High sat low gpa

Hey, real quick yes or no:

My sat: 2200 800 math 710 wr 690 cr

My gpa: 3.5 (go to a smarty school top 100)

The basic curriculars that all these other dudes post

Real good essays…

Those r the 4 they look at…soo yes or no

Your SAT is a bit above the average, but your GPA is well below the average of this year’s freshman class. I’d say you’re a stretch to get admitted. 5 years ago? Likely, but not now. It’s more competitive.

Dont get disheartened, hope you have some decent 2-3 ECs and some AP courses in junior and senior yr.

My son had 2200 and a 3.6 GPA and he got admitted for BME this year (no URM, Asian/Indian, Boy – so everything against him - no club president, didnt cure cancer – just basic ECs - summer work experience, black belt karate) . He got into other colleges too (Case Western, Purdue, UIUC, Boston, UDub@Seattle, UCSC, UCSB, etc etc).

Also, I have read Gatech calculates its own GPA, so tough curriculum does help (more honors and APs).

p.s.: btw, he is attending Gatech and very happy there.
