High School Class of 2013

Sorry I’m late, my 99.84 is weighted, though UW it’s probably around 97-99 anyway. I don’t understand how people can have 4.0 UW and like 5.0 W. That’s a 125 average.

@CSIHSI I never understand that either! But apparently it’s because they’re able to take alllll AP’s (my school doesn’t have that option), and then their AP classes are weighted ALOT; like 10 points alot… which is ridiculous. And 1 point is like 10 points on the 4.0 scale, so if they get a 4.0 as a grade, they weigh it to a 5.0…

Ridiculous, if you ask me.

I think that you can’t really just convert it from out of 100 to out of 4.0. What if a kid got 100 in half his classes, and 90 in the other half. That would leave a GPA of 95, which, if out of 4.0, would be a 3.75. While out of one class a 95 is a 4.0, you can’t just switch. The best way is to just recalculate your grades. Just look at your grades from freshman year on and just convert. So if you got a 92 in geometry, that’s a 3.5, and just keep doing that till you’re finally done.

First off, no matter what scale you use, a 95 is NOT a 3.75… At a minimum, it’s a 3.8… And I’d say a 3.9-4.0 is a 95.

And I thought on pretty much every scale, a 3.5 is a 90…

And Lol, i just made a thread similar to that… XD

3.5/4 = .875 soooooooooo

[How to Convert Your GPA to a 4.0 Scale](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>How to Convert (Calculate) Your GPA to a 4.0 Scale – BigFuture)

So 93-100 is a 4.0.

That seems too low though… I mean, I wish it was, because then I’d have like a 3.96…

I don’t really care about what my 99.84 is converted - my school and every school I know in New York City uses averages out of 100.

Out of 100, what do you guys think is the minimum for ivies?

…and the rest of NY btw.^

This 4.0 scale thing is total crap. >…<

Lesley, my point is that the two scales are not compatible. In the situation I just described, that 95 would be a 3.75, though it’s ridiculous that a 95 would ever be a 3.75, it’s possible. You can’t have a conversion chart that tells you a 3.8 is a 94. It doesn’t work. I also said that a 90 is a 3.5, because in some grading scales, like the UCs use, a 90-100 is a 4.0, 80-89 a 3.0, etc. You can’t compare the GPAs of two different grading scales unless recalculated. Just recalculate your grades, it’s the easiest way to understand what your GPA out of 100 really means compared to other GPAs. P.S. I go to a school in New York that uses the 4.0 scale, and a lot of my friends who go to other schools in New York also use the 4.0 scale, so don’t make generalizations like that.

Well obviously it’s not that simple but to be safe I’d say 100. Honestly.

A 100 should be a 4.0 but it’s not… I don’t understand why, but whatever I guess…

And yeah, I think everyone should forget about this 4.0 scale thing… There’s so many different scales used…

…I wonder how many people on here claim to have a 4.0 because they use a really low standard scale… Like the one with 93-100= 4.0 or a 90-100 =4.0

Because, pshhh, then I have a 4.0/close to 4.0 too. :p

It just seems that 100 scale is the best. It’s much more accurate. You can clearly see the difference between a 93 and a 100, but it’s less clear between a 4.0 and a 4.0.

Yeah, there is a huge difference between a 93 and a 100. On my college apps, I’m pretty sure my guidance counselor will use the 100 point scale.

Although, colleges recalculate your grades anyway… I wonder what scale they use… o.O

How do you guys find out your academic… stuff?

I have an “ARIS Parent Link” account that tells me all standardized test scores since 5th grade, my grades since middle school, all my credits (41.48… I have 1.5 years to make the last 2.42, lol.), my attendance since middle school, and that’s about it. It doesn’t however tell me my average.

I just go to my guidance counselor and ask. Lol. Right now I have my current transcript already, and it says my rank, average and amount of credits.

Ugh, we we stop talking about GPA. My head is starting to hurt just looking at numbers with decimal…

Hallelujah I finally finished the first draft of my article about Syria. Boy did that take a lot of procrastination.

Now tomorrow all I need to do is write a draft for my gym investigation and watch the Oscars :D

I never mentioned this but it still annoys me. While taking my APUSH final in January a senior walked in and asked the teacher if she could sit in the class room. Okay, already she’s being obnoxious because she’s saying anything during a final, but we’ll let that slide. After taking 5 minutes to get to a seat in the back of the room she says loudly, “Is this AP? Ugh that was fun.” yes it is, and you ruining my testing experience is making it even more fun. After a while she opened a bag of chips, and then began coughing at 20 second intervals.

I wanted to slap her.
