But to go to a UC you need atleast a 3.00 and my 10-11 grade isn’t but my total gpa is…I want to go to San Diego but I could settle for sacramento.eventhough I want to get out of the bay area.

My school doesn’t have unweighted gpas. Our gpas are out of a 21 point scale. We have three levels of classes. An A in a standard level course is worth 13 points, Academic level A is worth 17 points, and in honors and AP and A is worth 21 points. Anything above a 16.8 is considered 4.0. Our guidance counselors converted it to a 5.0 scale but it doesn’t make sense. As a whole, it doesn’t make sense. So I will never know what my legitimate unweighted and weighted gpas are. In one way I am okay with this because it’s more so a race for class rank (which is absolutely ridiculous in my school), rather than seeing who has the better gpa. But even at that there is so much competition it’s crazy and it drives every overachiever in my town to the edge.

Hey guys long time no talk! Haven’t been on here in like months. Junior year might be the death of me!

And the thread is revive…

Syracuse, I think we talked a LONG time ago, back on double digit pages. How are ya?

May this year is going to be HELL. I have my IB Math SL test May 3rd and 4th, my IB ITGS test May 4th and 7th, and the SAT May 5th. At least my sister’s birthday is the 5th too so I can have some good food and cake.

What’s IB I don’t think my school has it

@606Represent Hey I believe we did, my fellow laxer?

Let me tell ya, nothings going smooth right now for junior year. I couldn’t play basketball and lacrosse doesn’t look probable this year. But then again its my fault.

I just got my GPA back, its not even a 3.0. I’m just in shock. I can’t believe I let it get this way. The sad part is I take easy classes. Chemistry, Business Law, Accounting, Geometry, US and English. It’s embarrassing.

Now for the rest of they year I’m just gonna try to get that 3.0 and prepares for the SATS. I want a 1800 at least.

But as for college I am looking into going to undergraduate school in the UK somewhere. My grades aren’t high enough to get me into a regular 3 year uni, so it looks like im doing the foundation route. But I’m excited nonetheless. I just have to get my rent on board. She thinks im too young, and I’m not really sure about expenses.

Well I’m done with my venting/rant. How are you, I’m hoping your HELL(Junior) year has been more awarding?!?

Aw that sucks, hope things turn around. I pulled a 3.4 UW but in a few AP and Honors classes so my weighted is still above a 4.

I’m not even laxing this season, I would be perma benched, not worth my time. Decided to just do track and get back in shape.

And yeah, I took the January SAT without prep and I’m hoping to break 2100 but realistically I might land on a 2000.

I heard UK Unis only look at scores, not GPA.

Geeze! Why are your grades so weighted!? 3.4 —> 4.0? That’s ridiculous… My gpa was a 3.75 this quarter and it got weighted to a 3.9.

It’s plus 1 for AP classes, Plus .5 for Honors classes

I got B-s (2.67 each) Bs (3.00 each) and a couple A-s (3.67)

Ohh… Wow, that’s a huge weight. Our honors/AP’s get multiplied by 1.025. Lol.

IB is International Baccalaureate. It’s similar to AP in that it’s rigorous courses. You can get certificates for taking individual courses, and a diploma if you take a specific number of courses. take an extra course, do CAS hours, and write an extended essay (and get a certain number of points). Whereas AP is just in the US, many other countries have the IB programme as well.

[International education - The International Baccalaureate offers high quality programmes of education to a worldwide community of schools](http://www.ibo.org)

O well I’m pretty much done with APs I’ll only take stats and maybe english AP next yr…I think I’ll go to a CSU instead of UC…I was born in 1994 also too bad I won’t be 18 when its time to vote :{

Same here. I was born in December of '94. I want to vote so badly! That’s why I’m going to be doing some serious grassroots compaigning this summer to make up for it.

^Why do you want to vote so badly? I just want to play the lottery lol.

Lol but what else is there to do when 18,I’m not into smoking.

Dude my school doesn’t EVEN weight… 3.99 ftw, but last sem. I had a 4.6 W (if I calculate an A in AP as 5.0)

Our weighting is super confusing. So there are 4 levels Advanced/AP, Honors, College Prep, and General. I think an A in an advanced class gets you a 5.7, and A in honors is like a 5.3? It works out so a B+ in an Advanced Class is just higher than an A in an Honors class. But then some AP classes don’t get AP weight…like AP Stats or AP Micro. It’s kind of a mess.
