High School Class of 2014

@Studious that’s still a great score! The science SOLs (well actually all of them…) are easy content wise, but they word the questions just to try to trick you. It’s really irritating actually…

Love this thread! One what? One four!

Anyways, this is what I plan on taking next year:

-English 2 Honors
-Chemistry Honors
-AP World History
-AP Calculus AB
-AP Biology
-Spanish 3
-Health Science 2 Honors (it’s part of the Medical Academy)
-AP Environmental Science (FLVS)
-AP Computer Science (FLVS)??? - I will see how my schedule goes

Sports (for next year hopefully):
-Tennis
-Track
-Soccer? (I’m not sure how well I will do, but I will try it and see)

Clubs:
-HOSA
-Key Club
-Debate

might join one more depending on how my schedule is.

@ak5528 - Our schedules and sports are similar, mind telling me how AP Computer Science A goes for next year?

@jereve: You’re right, but I’m pretty good with wording and stuff. Apparently, they’ve ramped up the Bio difficulty immensely since last year. In fact, a ton of people (in the academic classes) failed this year, and there wasn’t a single 600. In past years, tens of people got 600s because it was ridiculously easy. I guess the test writers decided to change that this year…

I’ve heard that here too! Apparently they’ve made it harder to even pass advance anymore. We really shouldn’t have to study for SOLs if we haven’t had to in the past years… I can’t believe no one got a 600! That’s crazy… I’m gonna go freak out now…

I feel dumb for asking, but what’s an SOL?

Virginia Standards of Learning… No worries you’d never know that unless you live here lol

my school is complete garbage, i didnt even get pe the whole year, thats saddening, but, hopefully i get to transfer to the better school in my city, and im so glad i actually kept all a’s and b’s with some ec’s for the first time, i need to keep up the good work. :D

Good luck guys. But just so you know, Class of '15 has you beat in posts LOL.

@orangeblood that really sucks /: is it easier to stand out though? could you ever transfer?

2015 can’t beat us -___- they aren’t even in high school…

woah, i’m seriously intimidating by your schedules… APs in grade 10? my school offers a grand total of 3 APs, and they’re all seniors-only.

darn.

@divealive that sucks buddy /: don’t counselors have to alert colleges if that’s the case?

@DiveAlive: I’m pretty sure you won’t be penalized for the lack of APs at your school. Take all three, plus the most advanced non-AP classes that you can, and you’ll be fine. Additionally, see if you can self-study a few and take the tests at a different school that proctors the APs you plan to self-study. As long as you take the most rigorous schedule available to you, you should be good to go.

Hey guys!

My lineup:

AP Chemistry
AP Calculus AB
AP World History
AP U.S. Government and Politics
Honors English
Honors French IV
Symphonic Band

Gah I envy you Druval. If it were up to me, I’d be taking all APs next year. Alas, our school only offers 1 AP for sophomores. However, I think I will have taken all the APs my school offers by graduation.

OHHYAHHHHH

school’s out for me.

time to take AP Macro/Micro Economics on FLVS. yay?

Spanish 3 (no honors)
AP US History
AP Computer Science
Trig/Calc A
Honors English 2
PE (‘sigh’ it’s required)
Critical Thinking (class for the “gifted” aka nerds, at least it’s honors)
Honors Chem

So I’m basically taking the hardest classes and I don’t even get to have lunch.

@star you’re lucky your school allows that!

Geez, looking at all of your schedules, it seems as if my school system’s curriculum is waay behind everyone else’s in terms of the levels of classes that you take…especially when it comes to math. Taking Alg.II/Trig as a freshman is considered double-advanced.

@evanh same here /: I’m in geometry honors and THAT is considered “special”…

@StudiousMaximus
Unfortunate that your school doesn’t offer many APs; at my rate, I won’t have taken nearly all of them by the time I graduate. That said, colleges take into account the constraints of your school’s curriculum during admissions, so it shouldn’t affect you much, especially if you self-study a few.
