High School Class of 2014

I have a MacBook. And @nothingto, I’m in the process of moving, so I haven’t really been able to volunteer thus far. :(

I just got an ipad2 which will be my primary word processor, note taking, research device. I have a pc but because I’m going to be taking courses that require a lot of studying, but i will also be on my school soccer team and my club team during fall (annoyingly our school does a fall soccer season which interferes with club)!so I will be traveling a lot requiring Internet, therefor 3G from the iPad

@hazelphase I can relate to your battery woes. I used to get a 3 hour charge on my old PC. Though my Mac is advertised at 10, I can get about 7-8 hours after a full charge, which is fantastic for work.

It’s hard to see students functioning without mobile computing nowadays, seeing how well immersed our world is in the internet.

I too use a mac  and well… I swear by it as well :D

I’m life guarding this summer for 10 bucks an hour (wooooo super chill) and on sunday I leave for a mission trip  I’m also doing summer swim team and err procrastinating on summer assignments.

I use an old MacBook now, and am thinking about updating. Would it be better to get an MB Air or iPad 2? Also, I am volunteering for my local congressman and am a part of a band, as well as looking into the page program in Washington for junior year!

If price isn’t an issue, I’d go with the MacBook Air, hands down. It’s has the amazing portability of an iPad, but it has the ability to do full-fledged computing.

All I’m going to be doing is hopefully starting hospital work and volunteering at a theatre camp.

I’ve mostly been just relaxing, doing a lot of babysitting, seeing my friends, and reading. A lot. A lot of reading.

What books are you guys reading/have you read thus so far this summer?

This summer I traveled and now i’m just chillin’ :P

I use a custom made gamer PC at home because well, I used to play games competitively. Seeing as how that wouldn’t be a good EC and it was very time consuming, I had to stop. Even though I had the option to buy a macbook pro this summer, I’m going to wait until next summer to buy it. If i need quick access to internet, i’ll use others people’s laptops :P

I have really no idea what my rank is right now. Although, I have only gotten straight A’s so far. I’d imagine I’m pretty well ranked in a class of over 400 students. I’m probably in at least the top 20. It all depends on how many people took more than 2 high school classes in middle school and still got staight A’s freshmen year.

Also, right now I use an HP computer with Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64-bit.

My summer reading books are Keeping Corner and Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed.

My rank first semester: 3rd

My rank second semester: 1st

So if I try harder Sophomore year, I can be pushed to 1st all semesters.

^Good job jumping from 3rd to 1st. It can be quite difficult to supplant the top two in the class.

I’ve been meaning to read Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, but I’ve (idiotically) put that off. Once I completely finish my AP US work, I’m going to have a reading frenzy.

Cat’s Cradle is so good! I love Kurt Vonnegut. Last week, I finished Galapagos, and it was excellent.

Oh, Vonnegut is fantastic. I’ve heard that Cradle is his best work, so I’m looking forward to it.

I’m behind on my volunteering, only around 60 hours so far :frowning: but i just got a volunteering spot at the local observatory for 4 or so hours a week. I’ll probably keep that for the rest of hs.

This is probably been asked-but what are yall schedules for this year?

History of the Old Testament
Chemistry
AP Lang
Geometry
APUSH
German 2
AP Psychology

Oh gosh, I miss geometry. And I know what you guys mean. My pre-cal teacher wasn’t very good and was absent a lot. Despite 80% of the class being upperclassmen, me and 5 other freshmen took turns teaching the class, lol.

I do not know how Sophomores are getting so much AP’s. If only it was available in my school… AP World History is the only AP available to Freshmens/Sophomores (it is a 2 year course, so you have to take it as a freshmen).

Junior year you get to take 3 AP’s.
Senior year you get to take 3 AP’s.

I hate our schools budget…

Our school doesn’t offer AP classes, since they don’t want to have to be mandated to teach that specific curriculum… However, we can take the tests junior/senior year and most people do well.
