Joining discussion here! If everything goes according to plan I only have to apply to three schools- Lenoir Rhyne, which already let me in, and would give me at least 15K, UNC Chapel Hill EA, and then my dream school, Northwestern ED. Hopefully no rejections, but if that happens plenty of time to meet regular deadlines in January.

My application process is pretty low stress since I’d be extremely happy at my safety, and the rest of my list is all T20 reaches haha.

I think I would be happy at any of the schools I’m applying too, I hope that I can get a lot of money and into an honors program. I don’t really have any reaches, one of them is a high match, but a lot of my acceptances and major is going to be based and is based on talent, but academically I’m pretty set. Now, for that essay…

My college list is 1/2 reaches and I’m probably gonna get rejected at ~4 of my schools. I was going to apply to Georgetown EA, but apparently their EA acceptance rate is lower than their regular. Which kind of takes away the purpose…

They don’t reject EA. It still helps to EA because then they’ll see your app twice.

Is anyone else kind of freaking out over essays? My GPA is a tad low for my first choice, so my essays and my last ACT sitting have to be totally on point.

@Repede, yeah I’m glad they defer. I might apply to Upenn ED instead or just apply EA to Georgetown in addition to Notre Dame or something.

@ifoundalaska my GPA sucks because of junior year, so I’m trying to get a higher SAT/ACT score and do really well on my essays. Hopefully by starting early I won’t panic as much haha

I’m really in shock about how short these essays are- about 2000 words are all that stands in between me and the admissions committee.

I’m excited to write my essays! I already started my Stanford supplement over summer vacation, and I’m hoping that the common app releases the writing prompts online on their website soon. I am not particularly looking forward to filling out forms (FAFSA…) and getting all of my transcripts/scores together, but I’m going to have a blast writing my essays. I’m pretty sure I already know what I want to write about.

A couple of months ago, I was freaking out about essays because I was scared I wasn’t going to get them done. After writing a couple of them, it’s just busy work. My common app essay is pretty decent but nothing to jump around about. The title of it is: Where The Cute Things Are lol.

Haha that’s adorable. Where are you planning on applying? I remember talking to you about KPop on CC ages ago.

I’m pretty sure that most of my RD essays will become busywork. Since I’m taking AP Calc BC and AP English Lit this year, I’m just worried that my brain will be fried before I even have the chance to start working on my final essays.

Last December there were multiple status updates on Facebook by seniors saying something similar to “time to get started on college apps lol”. I don’t know how people do that. I would freak out.

My friends tell my I should write my common app essay about swag. They are 100% serious.

^ If done the right way, that could make a very good essay tbh.

I need the supplements to come out now when I actually have free time. also, does anyone know if it’s okay to send a progress report of sorts when you apply? I’m applying ED so official grades won’t be out yet, but if I’m doing really well, could I have a counselor say something about that, or attach a copy of my grades?

^ Yes, it’s called a midyear report.

Schools will notify you if you need to send them one or not. If they don’t ask for it, do them a favor and don’t send one.

Attempting to fill out all the common app details, then essays. Low key stressing even now.

@TinnyT, It could be a good essay if done well. However, I’m not very good at articulating my thoughts, so it would probably just end up being the most epic of fails, lol.

“I have swag, swag makes me umm cool?”. LOL! At least that would make the adcoms day.

When some colleges require all standardized test scores, does that mean only the tests in high school? I took the ACT in 7th grade with a talent search program and I’m not sure if that counts. I’d hate to pay to send it, but I’d also hate if I didn’t send it and they needed it.
