I started Thursday. My chem teacher hasn’t posted an assignment that’s due on Thursday so I’m stressing.

Also everyone is really surprised when I tell them I’m not in AP English Lit. Maybe I should start a petition :P

Summer keeps going strong until September 3rd.

Freshman orientation is on the 28th (I’m going as a part of Link Crew), and I start on the 29th.

My school had its freshman orientation August 1st lol. School starts on Monday for me, it was a short summer break.

school doesn’t start for me until September 9! it’s a little bittersweet - more time to do assignments, but I have to wait longer for it to start ): freshman orientation is on August 26, which is so incredibly unhelpful, but none of the coordinators want our (i.e. the students’) opinions on how to fix it.

School starts for me on the 27th! I’m taking 5 AP’s, but another interesting sounding English class instead of AP Lit. Is it bad to not take AP English just because I don’t want to? haha

Nah since you took Calc BC, you should be fine. I’m not taking AP lit as a senior, since I did Lang last year.

Has anyone read “The Fault in our Stars” by John Green? It was so good.

Everyone I know likes John Green. Everyone except me. I did not like The Fault in our Stars

I’ve read it Mocheng! Its so good.

So I need some advice/reassurance: I’m an MIT hopeful, but last year I took AP Calc AB, the class went pretty sour, new teacher and unruly class, and I received a 1 on the test because we weren’t prepared.
#1, can I keep MIT from seeing this 1 somehow? The school report asks for all AP test scores is my worry.

2 If they do see it…how screwed am I?

And will it help that I’m taking AP BC Calc my senior year?

7 AP classes! Yay! Haha… The only non-AP class I’m taking is an Aide period. We had orientation on the 13th and school starts on the 26th. Dang. It seems to be creeping up slowly.

@Mocheng:

I cried so much lol; it was pathetic. I think I cried for the entire last third of the book.

Just made a Google calendar specifically for all of these deadlines & junk… I feel like January is going to come way too quickly.

ATPmolecule… pretty screwed. You could just not send in your AP scores.

Do you think I could write an essay about it, explaining my class situation and what went wrong? I sincerely believe I am the caliber they are looking for, I simply got unlucky and do not know what to do! All of my other AP scores are exceptional, and I have a good understanding of math and love learning the subject.

The Fault in Our Stars is the best book I’ve read. His other books are great too except for Will Grayson, can’t get into that one.

Maybe. Talk to your counselor about it, too, he/she should be of some help.

My friend is in a somewhat similar position as she retook an AP test to go from a 3 to a 4 (on Calc BC). One gives you credit and one doesn’t. I’m guessing she’ll report it for the year she got the better score (even though it doesn’t match with the year of the class).

I’m so iffy on applying to MIT. I really don’t think I have any chance of getting in. It was dream school when I was 12 (lol.) My stats et al qualify me but I think 3-4 kids get accepted from my Country and they either have more ‘big awards’ than I do (this is partially not my fault since I moved later) or they’re web designers with companies or having some crazy life story. There are way more kids at Ivies from my country than at MIT. And their FA is probably not that great and I’m not that techy.

I have INSANELY low expectations now. I can’t tell if that’s good or bad.

I like John Green as a YouTube personality but not as an author. His teenage characters always seemed unrealistic and pretentious to me.

People still read?

@Mocheng: I loved The Fault In Our Stars!! And most of his other books! And he’s a good youtube personality too (and crashcourse history teacher, haha)

@Repede: I know right? Columbia’s supplement (listing the books you’ve read inside and outside of class, etc, etc) actually made me not want to apply there, because I barely read books nowadays… let alone a bunch of sophisticated stuff that I don’t have to read.
