Wow, some of you guys start school late. I’ve been in school a week now, my first day was the 12th. All IB Classes again this year.

A book everyone should read is Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman! by Richard Feynman; whether or not you’re actually interested in physics.

@lldm21, I have a good reads, but I have not used it for over two years now, lol.

Oh, dear, whenever adults ask me where I am looking at colleges, I always feel like a major derp telling people I’m applying early to Harvard and regular to other completely unrealistic schools, so I just say I’m looking all over the place. I feel like it’s better to surprise people with an acceptance than have to tell them about rejection.

Is that weird?

GirlCode (Please tell me someone other than me watches this)

I just tell people I’m applying to UT whenever they ask.

@collegeluva101 I totally know what you mean. I used to not mind when it didn’t seem so real. But now that I’m facing the facts, I try to just say that I’m looking around. If people push further (which, annoyingly, a lot do), I tell them I would rather tell them if I’m accepted.

Haha… I should do that as well, Repede. Are you in the top 7%?

I feel as if some authors and tv show writers try to make the main female character so uncliche that its cliche.

Mocheng I keep trying to get my hands on a copy of Fault in our Stars, I don’t really like to buy books and cant find it at my library so I guess I’ll ask for it for me birthday or Christmas

@college: Yeah, I feel super awkward answering, so I just say a couple places in New York/Rhode Island/CT… wherever. Usually I can say that my top choice is Brown and nobody even knows what it is, so I’m fine with that.

Dilemma:

I need to take the math SAT II this fall. Should I retake US History (650) as well? I got a 780 on the CollegeBoard practice test, so I don’t know how I did so (comparatively) poorly, but I don’t know if it’s worth the time & money to take it again. My other test was Chemistry and I got a 770, so that’s fine.

I just tell people I’m not applying to Stanford when they ask me where I’m applying. It distracts them enough from the question. People are shell-shocked to find I’m not applying to Stanford - after all, almost everyone applies and like 30-40 are accepted every year from my school.

My school doesn’t rank, but I’m strongly in the accepted region of my school’s Naviance graph.

Just take Math II if you need it. Most schools just look at the best two anyway.

superstarlala: that’s okay, I didn’t particularly like Perks of Being a Wallflower, unlike apparently everyone else.

loveartforever: lolol same about the Columbia supplement! but that’s sorta the basis of the Core so I suppose it’s a necessary evil. but I’m sure that even if you don’t have free time to read your own books, you’ve read enough in school to make the adcom understand.

lldm21: if anyone saw my Goodreads, they’d 1) judge me so bad; and 2) think I never read anything lolol. also, I agree with Repede, don’t waste your money with USH again.

collegeluva101: not weird at all, I’m not telling anyone, except for a few close friends and my parents, where I’m applying at all. was doing that with test scores too until my mother opened her mouth and told like half of my extended family -_-

My first day is tomorrow… Kind of bittersweet, my last first day of school.

Lol, I remember when I used to be a freshman and I looked up to and admired a lot of the seniors. I just can’t imagine anyone looking up to or admiring me.

^ Same here. I used to think they were so cool. It feels weird to think anyone would think the same of me. I’m really excited for school. Senior year will be a blast and I can’t wait. I have these pair of shoes I’ve been saving for the first day.

I plan to read TFios after I finish my summer reading. In fact, my buddy Nat is playing Issac in the movie. Filming starts next Monday. Oh yeahhhhh

That’s so cool!

@lldm, I added you. Don’t judge me too hard, lol :P

I just say I’m applying to “generic large public” and some other schools. Then, if they ask me about my US, I just say I’m applying to University of Rochester since I used to live in the area and ‘some other schools’.

Low expectations FTW!

Legend of Korra starts September 13th! Yay, something to look forward to in this miserable year.

I’m taking 5 ap classes… Kinda stressful!
