High School Class of 2014

Stanford itself is located in a “borough” (suburb doesn’t really fit) of Palo Alto (Stanford, CA) that’s actually relatively pleasant. Reminiscent of Cambridge, if I say so myself.

@studious did you compete at wacfl yesterday? lol

Haven’t been on in a while and im slacking badly

@paris: Nope. I had a play this weekend and was very busy. As was my partner. We’re definitely competing in December, though. How did you do?

We qualified for metro finals in our second debate, I was surprised because we didn’t place last time,I was really stressing about getting less than 3-1 (because that’s what we were last time), but we pulled off 4-0  since we’re both jv now, maybe we will debate next month (or most likely not), but that’d be crazy.

Nice! What was your place?

First, I edited the first post and must have deleted it…

Wow, great job! Do you think you’ll pull off consistently high results from now on? How well prepared were you for the debate?

We finalized our cases the night before, I honestly don’t know if we will be able to consistently pull off high results, but one of the judges said we were the best debaters she had seen that day, and she’d been judging varsity. I wrote really good rebuttals, so our rebuttal speeches were really on point which pretty much won as the debates because everyone just spent the time trying to rebuild their case. I take AP gov though, so I did have an advantage.

I definitely hope to debate you someday! How do you feel about your partner and his/her skill level?

I’ve known her since kindergarten so we work well together, but I end up pulling most of the weight. I don’t mind though because she keeps me in line and thinks of things I don’t, so we make a good pair. I really hope we debate sometime, that’d be awesome, except you’d probably crush us. How about your partner?

I highly doubt that I’d crush you. With a first place title under your belt, you should be able to contend well with pretty much anyone in WACFL. As for my partner, he’s a very new debater and not the greatest speaker (read: he’ll look down at his notes the whole time). I’m in the process of possibly switching partners, though.

Oh I’m sorry about that. I want to debate you now xD People on my team have said winning novice doesn’t mean all that much, but I mean none of them have done that… So… I think I’m a pretty good speaker, and my partner has been improving SO much. Good luck finding a new partner! That’s going to be an interesting conversation with your current partner.

Wow, from the way that you guys are talking about debate makes it seem like its a project worth 500000% of your final grade LOL. I wish that I could do debate, but I think that it would take a lot of research and preparation. So, I’ll pass.

^It’s worth the prep.

^ the adrenaline rush you get is well worth it.

Debate is awesome.

MUN is more my thing. Similar but also not, lol.

I’m going to do MUN as well next year  it sounds like so much fun.

I miss high school… Please enjoy it lol, I know you probably don’t like being stuck in rooms 8 hours a day but I’d give anything to make real friends again lol

I do MUN also. Is anyone going to JHUMUNC this February?
