I’m new to CC and am glad to have found this forum. I live in NC want to go to a top college (Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Penn, Columbia, Stanford, duke, Cornell, MIT, and Caltech). My safety schools are UNC (especially since I live in state), Johns Hopkins, Chicago and Michagon. I’m not sure what I want to do. I’m first in my class and have accelerated in math. I took algebra1 in 6 grade, geo in 7, and algebra 2 in 8 and got As( my mom is a math professor). This past year I took hn English 1, hn bio, hn chem, pe, hn world history, hn precal, ap stats (got a 5) and Spanish 1. Im in the top orchestra which meets before school (even though I’m not very good). I’m on the debate team (only went to two competitions), science Olympiad and volunteer at the Humane Society. I love dogs! I Jane a black lab. This year I’m taking ap calc ab/bc, ap chem, Spanish 2, hn civics, apes, hn English 2. I also trying to study for SATs which I did over the summer and took Drivers Ed :/. I’m really glad to read everyone’s post and know there are other kids like me out tere. I don’t really fit in at my school. I’m also Jewish but my synagogue is really small and no one really cares as much as I do. I know this is kind of long but this me and Im happy to “meet” you guys

I really don’t understand how some of ya’ll’s schools work. I mean. There is no way a sophomore could take AP calc and AP chem. NO WAY. It makes me feel stupid how my school doesn’t offer any of these opportunities.

My second day of school has already passed. I’m in that awkward transition stage where I feel too old to be a freshman but too young to be a sophomore.

Finalized schedule (quite barren, b/c no APs):
Honors Chemistry
Honors English 10
Honors Western Civilization
Honors Precalculus
Spanish 2 (no honors offered)
Theology 10 (Catholic school…)
Symphonic band (elective requirement)

Also planning to self-study a bunch of APs (Euro, World, Psych, Physics B, Macro/Microeconomics, Comp Gov, and HuG). So I’ve got to either get off CC and stop procrastinating, or look forward to not getting any sleep for the next nine months…

At my school I think you are allowed to take whatever class you want (with parent permission). For colleges though, I think they only look to see that you take the hardest classes possible at your school. So you should definitely not feel stupid for something that is your schools fault. It’s great to see other NCers up here too :).

I live in a medium sized town in NC. My brother calls it a suburb without a big city nearby. Haha but I’m a big city type of girl and want to live in one one day. My town has is too small and some people are way too close minded. Sorry for the venting. I’m not a big fan of where I live

Hahaha, I understand the whole close minded thing. My town has 7,000 people and 6,000 are private university students (ha, you migt be able to guess the town now). The remaining 1000 are tight knit conservatives…including my family lol.
