High School Class of 2015

My school starts at 7:20, but I would prefer that we start at 8:30 or 9. It would be very beneficial, because more sleep makes you tend to do better in school. The adolescent brain is programmed to fall asleep around 11 PM, and wake up around 8-9ish. A group of parents started a campaign called Start Later for Excellence in Education Proposal (SLEEP) to change start times, and actually did a lot of research regarding the subject. However, the county didn’t approve it. [Sleep Facts - SLEEP: Start Later for Excellence in Education Proposal](Sleep Facts - SLEEP: Start Later for Excellence in Education Proposal) if you want to read more about it.

I’m getting a little tired of going to bed at 1:30 to wake up at 5:30, I need more sleep, especially with varsity sports, travel teams, Clubs etc.
Not to mention the School work and homework (But duh? what do you expect in AP?)

But I love being busy and I really am enjoying my year! I have really good friends in every class and get along with all my teacher’s very well.
Oh and my school starts at 8:10 and ends at 3:30 its a long school day

I
m enjoying sophomore year, though Math class at 8:30 AM isn
t the funnest way to start off the day. Alex, AP, yes lots of homework!! Mostly, for my class it
s a lot of assignments that are due on the day of the test, but it
s a lot of work. But the class itself is very fun.
School starts 8:30
Ends: 3:15

I`m barely getting any sleep…12:00 is the earliest I make it to bed. Wake up and 6:45.

My classes are going pretty well, and for the most part there isn’t too much work (like a 6/10). I’m really happy to be in student council this year (it a big deal at my school) and I think I can manage straight a’s. Also if I work on art enough I can get an award or two  i really want to go to Princeton or Yale or something (and settle for UNC chapel hill) and hopefully leadership (student council, president of a club or two), art (I’m not serious about it but I enjoy it and come from an artistic family), and academics will get me it :)

Yeah I’ll settle for UNC chap. But my favorite colleges are up north or in the UK. I’m in student council too as hopefully sophomore president. I have a speech on Tuesday and then they vote!

I always thought that secondary school starts later because some older kids might need to pick up younger siblings from primary school, so older siblings need to get out of school first.

Oh and @AlexHarper Good Luck!!! XD

And on the other post I meant secondary school starts earlier, sorry.

Not at my school…elementary school gets out at 3:00 and middle school gets out at 2:50. I wish my high school got out earlier so that way when I`m in 12th and my brother is in 6th I could just drive him to school. But nope, not here. We get out at 3:15.

Here primary school starts later and ends earlier than secondary school, so my older brother can only get my younger brother to school or back when he has free periods

I’m in debate! Our club is pretty laid back which was fine with me last year but I hope to get to more debates this year. I do public forum. I recommend debate to anyone who likes arguing haha but it is really fun and helps get over public speaking fears plus the writing of speeches helps your writing

@petlover1022: Thank you so much! :)

@MichalSR: Okay so my school had a debate team that was awesome about 3 years ago (when we weren’t in high school yet) But they were seniors and left. So last year, some freshman decided to remake debate team and it was AWFUL. They had no idea what they were doing. We debated over abortion and one girl was like “I really don’t know what abortion even it” lol. Oh it was so bad! I wish we had a good debate team.

The work load is a bit higher than last year’s, but I’m almost keeping up. I just need to get in the habit of doing more of the homework at home. My tip for all of you with heavy workloads, sleep in multiples of 1.5 hours (1.5 hours is one sleep cycle), eat a HEALTHY breakfast (whole grains and such. I don’t care if you’re not a breakfast person; eat breakfast!!!), eat as much natural food as possible, don’t consume caffeine, and try to be happy (which means no boyfriends or girlfriends because you’re all undeveloped, horny creatures). That’s how I’ve been getting through the year, and I feel amazing.

Wow that
s a lot of AP classes! All right, I
ll post my stats, but be warned they weren`t terrific last year.

Freshman Year Honors World History-A,A Honors Bio 1-A,A Honors English-A,A Spanish 2-B,B Honors Algebra 1 pt 1-B,C (I suck at math....and th eteacher was SERIOUSLY NOT a good teacher) Intro to Media-A,A Gym/Health-B (How do you get a B in gym, you ask? I don`t know, it was the exam...slacked off)

Sophomore Year (Current year, so this is so far)
AP World History pt. 2-A
Honors English-A
Honors Earth Science-A (I would
ve done AP Bio-Chem, but didn
t have the required math)

Gym/ Drivers Ed-Don
t have it until 2nd semester, but A
Algebra 1 pt 2-A
Honors Geometry-Hopefully an A, don
t have it until 2nd semester

I
ll go ahead and write what I want to take next two years, but really am not sure if I should go with more journalism classes, or hit up the AP and math load…my dilema is that I really want to go to the Naval Academy, in which case I should hit up AP and Math, but if I don
t get in, I want to study journalism, so I want to get a lot of journalism classes in too, and we only get 4 classes a semester, so I can`t fit it all in. Any advice there?

Ahh you guys are lucky because with my school, we only have 4 classes a semester, so 8 altogether. I hate the way they do that. I could get in so many more classes if we had 5 or 6 a semester. Haha, I always thought my grades were pretty good compared to other kids at my school (Rural school where only like 40% go to college, and more than 30% only go to community college and never make it to even the state university) but compared to you guys, not so great :)
