High School Class of 2015

^ Cool, it takes like a day to learn all the info yourself…

I just took the SAT online for a practice run just for the math part. I skipped the reading because it seemed really boring. I got a 800 on the math part! :)

@Imsoambitious: Thats a ridiculous amount of clubs. Quality>Quantity bro

@Alex Harper

Yes I realize that. What do you define as quality? I have leadership positions in most of them. And In the ones with achievement, I have national level achievement? What can I do to stop people from thinking what you are thinking, which is an incorrect assertion? I have quality and quantity. I have a lot of initiative and ambition, diverse interests, I don’t like to sleep, and I’m ADHD in that I need to be busy at all times. It’s not like I am hoarding to look good.

For example, I have been involved in the founding of 13 of those clubs. I work hard in all of them. My ECs are of extremely high quality I feel, but somehow having both quality and quantity is bad?

Wow that
s awesome that you
re in that many clubs AND have leadership positions in most of them. That`s amazing.

^LOL, Its not as amazing as you think, Its because I have started most of the clubs i have leadership in. A sophomore at my school doesn’t usually get too much leadership. I go to a top 5 STEM school in USA.

Actually all of them, the 2 that I am not founder I got it because I was friends with the founder or chill with the moderator.

Still, impressive, especially that you started a lot of them. Most students just participate, let alone found a club, let alone found more than 1 club…you get the point. Yeah, I think besides student gov
t, there
s only like 4 sophomores with leadership positions at my school, and we have like 25 clubs.

I mean I think its impressive and don’t twist my words about quality and quantity. But I know it hurt my brother who had founded a lot of clubs and was apart of them, colleges turned him down due to this reason. But I guess if thats all you do, thats fine. I know my ECs take up A LOT of time for just one. Playing On a Junior Olympic team requires 25+ hours a month just for practice and the season runs from November to July. But whatever, so be it.

That awkward moment when I have more ECs than ImSoAmbitious…

@Hobbit, Wow that says something! LOL

@yerhs, I’m jealous! (SAT math part…)

I’m happy though because I got 92 in my first APUSH test! :smiley: Tomorrow I have a big AP chem test. wish me luck!

and marching band is making me so freaking busy. But it’s been fun.

@Hobbiton @Imsoambitious Just to clarify, I’m not saying having a lot of ECs are bad, just making sure you are have time for all of them. Unfortunately my ECs are so in depth that I don’t have time for 20 clubs (don’t even think my school offers that).

@Shmluza: Goodluck!

Changing the EC topic…

Do you all have to take gym at all in school? We have to take it in 9th and 10th, but luckily, this year I get Driver
s Ed, which means that two days a weel, every other week, I get to get out o gym class to drive with three other kids and the instructor. And the instructor, I hear, let
s the kids go to McDonald`s on the way back to school.

Yes I have to take gym. At first my friend told me I have to do >30 pushups, and I can’t remember how many situps, etc. to get an A. I thought oh NO THIS IS GONNA BRING MY GPA DOWN! Then I realized as long as I’m making effort and have uniforms then I’m getting an A. :smiley:

Ok, off to study for chem. (Thank you AlexHarper. :slight_smile: )
BTW, ALexHarper, what are your ECs?

Yeah I have to take gym. Also, will colleges look down upon having so many ECs, even though you have quality in them? I was worried about that, as they might think I am not showing a direction. My ECs have variety, but the also have depth in many areas.

We have to take Gym in ninth grade, but half the kids at my school fail that (not kidding) and end up taking it again sophomore year. And surprisingly a lot of students like to take PE2 and other sports classes. We don’t have Driver’s ED as a class here, you can take it on saturdays or after school or during the summer. Having a permit is fun…but I’m ready for my license!

@Shmluza: I think I listed them on page 178, I don’t have a gazillion, but the ones I do have I dedicate most of my time to. Basically some clubs with leadership, 3 Sports one on JO level which consumes my life, Sophomore class president, musicals that also take up 3-5 hours of my day right now, Volunteering, Church etc.

@Hobbiton, Wow That is a big commitment. I know that I don’t have much free time and I don’t too much sleep, so you must be having a harder time. and BTW, what are your ECs?

@alexharper,

You also have very good ECs. It is a great balance between academics and sports.
