@AlexHarper: ugh I despise Algebra 2 & Trig so much. The stuff we’re doing so far is algebra one stuff, and yet I’m not even doing well on that stuff -___- Oh well, the real algebra 2 stuff starts tomorrow.

Does anyone else besides me have no school today because of Columbus Day? o.o

Got a Spanish penpal today, very excited! The whole class was going a bit crazy because we’re a girls school and the class we’re paired with is mostly boys so…
Does anyone else have a language penpal? Did you find it helped you much?

Columbus day? Uh yeah, my school goes to school that day (today)…we just had a discussion about it in math about how we feel like we
re the only school who goes. Well, I argued that there are many schools who go, though I wish mine didn
t.

@filmmaker, I was homeschool for a short period or two in elementary school, and have gone to both public and private school (a private christian school). Of all three public school was by far the best. The opportunities offered, the friends made, and the overall atmosphere is unbeatable. I’m not sure why you’re homeschooled, maybe its because you had a rough time in school or something–I was homeschooled because when i was 9 and my family moved across the country I got really… ‘sick’ and was diagnosed with postpartum depression (when it was really my hormones just being out of whack due to some thyroid problems). In that school district students diagnosed with any type of depression had to be homeschooled for a few months… after that I was put into a certain program and when i moved to NC i was kept in it… long story short i was homeschooled again in 5th grade because I was in a class of troubled kids when I really shouldnt have been.

But seriously, the opportunities I get in highschool are amazing, from sports to clubs to student council to internships with the DNC and awards and community service–I would never go back to homeschooling. You might be able to do some of these things still but it really isnt the same. And if you started home schooling because kids can sometimes be harsh, realize that they are nice people who go to your school and that in the real world youre going to meet jerks and brainiacs and cocky guys or back stabbing people. Im not trying to make up your mind or tell you its bad, its just that if i were still homeschooled I think I would want someone to tell me my different options.

Also, I’m super happy with my current grades:
95 - AP physics B
95 - Ceramics I
96 - AP Calc AB
A - Student Council(no grades yet but the teacher rly likes me and I participated a ton)
90 - Honors English II (which is a b… I’m confident it’ll jump to an A though)
84 - AP Psych. even though this is supposed to be an easy class (in other schools) the 5 question quiz everyday is really killing me… It’ll go up to a 90 at least, hopefully an A though… :(

Also… I’m really thinking about my schedule for next year… here are my ideas tell me what you think:

AP English (III)
AP Stat (most likely unless Calc BC is being offered)
AP Earth (normal for juniors to take)
AP World (AP world is a lot easier than AP US, but I might take APUSH since juniors generally take it at my school)
Student Council
Chamber (Possibly, if not I’'l just take Ceramics II)
Honors French IV
(Might take APUSH and AP world at the same time… since World will be generally easy since I’d have taken the honors class over the summer, and US will be a little bit harder but its okay)

Ha, can
t wait to take APUSH. US history is my thing…not world history. I like the class, as in the people in it, but I really don
t think World is easy…of course, APUSH will generally be harder, but it`ll be easier in a way for me since I like it and generally know more already about it.

Yes we have a lot of big projects, papers and presentations. Especially for AP psych.

Thinking about my Next Year’s Schedule:
AP English III
AP US History (AP world was a breeze and I’m taking AP Euro next semester)
AP Chemistry
AP Physics B
AP Calculus AB
Spanish
University Biology and taking the AP test (I already took the SATII in biology and got a 750)

so theres alot of presentations for EVERY AP class? like even Calculus and such? I have AP Biology, AP Art History, & AP Government next semester.
I have stage fright and I HATEE going up in front of the class and presenting things.
gahhh. how fun.

No, depends on the class and teacher. I doubt AP Calc has presentations, but who knows? Maybe AlexHarper can enlighten us.

I
m in AP World, and we haven
t done any yet (though we`re supposed to do one every unit). We just have a lot of assignments that are due at the end of the unit.

I’m losing hope. I’m seriously slipping… I have a B in AP World and it seriously is the hardest subject I have, and I’m doing so freaking terribly on the essays. I have solid theses and good evidence but my commentary SUCKS. My essay grades are bringing my whole grade down.

As for Honors Bio, I just got a 70% on my test. It brought me down to a B. I seriously thought it would be a breeze since science last year was laughably easy, but oh my GOD.
And I have a B in Algebra 2. I freaking hate Algebra. AMRGKELMALK.

I don’t even know what’s going on. I’m slipping and I have no idea why… I keep trying my hardest… It’s like nothing sticks anymore…

I’m going to break down from stress. Plus I missed 2 days of school (yesterday and today) because I was sick so I have even more homework to make up.

Does anyone have any tips whatsoever to help me bring my grade up and bring it up fast? I study hard enough as it is… :/

I REAAAALLLY need help in
-Algebra 2 (although right now it’s just review)
-Honors Biology
-AP World
-Chinese 1

I`ve got a B in AP World too and AM NOT HAPPY BECAUSE IT WILL BE MY FIRST B IN A HISTORY CLASS EVER!!!
Enough about me, excuse the rank. So glad I can take APUSH next year. Fed up with world history. AP World....I dont know how your teacher does the tests, but my tests have NOTHING to do with the notes...luckily we have extra assignments that help it. I heard one girl who took it last year say she got straight Fs on all the tests and still pulled an A for the class.
Tutoring is the only thing I can suggest. Pinpoint your weaknesses in each of the subjects and target those. With Bio, studying is basically all there is to it. Took it last year, and its just a lot of memorization, at least for my class, but I dont know about yours.
Know nothing about Chinese. Me gusta espanol.
Im mad about the fact I have a B in AP World and math, which is ridiculous, but the only thing I can do to comfort myself is the fact that the semester grade is the only one that TRULY matters, but Im freaking out about AP. PM me if you ever want to vent about it...it`s frustratingly frustrating.

Hey fellow C/O 2015’ers.
How’s the school year been for you guys? For me it’s been incredibly fast and I am slowly but surely getting my grades to where I want them to be.

^aside from hating Spanish things have been good. Grade are going good except in chemistry where I have a B+. Me and my lab partner just gotta stop screwing around and all will be good.

As you could see from my mini rant, I
ve got two B
s, and my other two classes, A
s…I only have a 94 in science, which is ridiculous, since it
s the easiest thing ever, but oh well. The end of our first grading period is like a week from now.

I
m enjoying my English and AP World class a lot, but hate science and math…but oh well. I
m taking the PSAT next Wednesday, and have been doing some prep for that, but not worrying too much about it. Critical Reading, I
ll be fine, don
t know about the math. Aiming to get at least a 180, would shoot for higher but I`ve only started studying for the past few days. My high school requires all sophomores to take it, because we have a grant that pays the $14. So I get out of two of my classes that day, one of which being math :)

Even though I have a B in math, I
m content (somewhat) because I can still get an A for the semester, and I understand everything, which is good, considering the teacher
s not great.

So did anyone’s school celebrate unity day (the anti bullying day)? Our school went all out with everyone in orange, and the school taking a picture together.

I didn
t even know it was anti-bullying day…that
s bad of me…the school never mentioned it.

However, this Friday, we`re supposed to wear pink and buy a pink ribbon their selling for Breast Cancer awareness month.

I
m ready for Friday. This jerk sitting next to me in math won
t leave me alone and is just being…a jerk. He
s an idiot really. In AP, this one kid who has math with me said to the class about he keeps being annoying and mean, and I explained to the teacher about how he
s just dumb…and it was so funny, because the whole class got loud all at once because everyone was just like “YES!”. One kid put it well and said, “He
s beyond dumb.” All I want to do is focus on math, which I
m trying to do well in…and in all honesty, if I wouldn
t get in trouble for it, I
d just punch him. Oh well. Annoying people make the world go round, I guess.

Since last week (and continuing on with this week), during lunch, anyone seen wearing orange gets entered into a raffle for gift cards. They also played antibullying commercials around the school, one of them involving the school show choir.

I am and i love it. I cant wait for the Psat. I used a 3 yearold petersons psat guide last month and scored a 198. I am going to get an up to date psat test by either barrons or Princeton Review and see what i score. Luckily i live in MS, so next year i should have NMF in a bag. :)
