High School Class of 2015

@Soccerchic12, what test are you taking? it’s not canceled even with Sandy? Anyway, good luck!

Do you guys know if AP Lang and AP Lit are hard???

Here’s my junior year schedule. It’s pretty definite, unless I end up doing terribly in H. Precalc next semester.

H. English (no AP until senior year but we still take AP Lang test)
H. Biology
AP Calc AB
AP Calc BC
AP European History
H. Latin III
Theology
Required computer class (.5 credit)
P.E. (.5 credit)

@nomatterwhat, it’s the Wisconsin Knowledge Exam and Concepts test…so like the state standardized test. Wisconsin isn’t being affected by Sandy besides a few towns in the very southeast portion (being flooded from the incredibly high Lake Michigan waves) so no, it unfortunately wasn’t cancelled. And thanks! They’re pretty easy and really nothing is at stake, so I guess that’s nice.

Possible senior schedule-
AP Chemistry
AP Calc AB
AP Lit (which I DON’T want to take but unfortunately my school doesn’t offer anything between regular English and AP Lit…and I’m doing AP Lang junior year)
AP Microeconomics
CAPP Spanish (a professor from a nearby liberal arts colleges comes over and teaches kids who have gone through Spanish 5…usually there’s like 40 or so…pretty much the equivalent of AP Spanish)
And…SENIOR FOODS! Woo, slacker classes! Gotta do something fun my senior year…lol apparently you make food every day. Exciting!

^Yeah, we`ve got only 2 AP English classes too.

So you`ll make food? Sounds like an interesting class.

Some of these classes are mandatory:(
Junior Year Schedule:
AP World or US
Trig
AP Chem
Genetics
AP Lang
Spanish 4
AP Physics

Not sure which AP history class I should take and if I should take AP physics next year…

Why is there not a Nobel Prize for Mathematics? Anyone have any ideas? I googled it but it doesn’t seem to give me a factual answer.

Here, try this: [snopes.com: No Nobel Prize for Math](No Nobel Prize for Math | Snopes.com)

Legit reason.

@CE527M (awkwardly responding to your post from all the way up the page…)
Yeah, we have 7 classes a semester/year, which I feel is just the right number without completely going over/underboard… although there are technically only 6 real classes, if you don’t count theology, which is a requirement all four year (Catholic school). I really don’t know what seventh I’d take senior year. I guess AP Psych, if I don’t self-study this year. I’m actually not sure if my school will let me have a free, b/c we’re all required to take 7 classes a semester, but it’ll be senior year, and I’ll already have fulfilled my graduation credit requirements, so…

Something all the seniors always want to take is what we call being a VPS, where you sign up to be a teacher
s assistant and help a teacher out. Those that get good teacher
s basically just sit in class and talk to us. My science teacher last year was the son-in-law of the manager of the local McDonald`s, so her let his VPS take his car and drive to go get food. Just take an easy class.

Senior here!

@nomatterwhat: as a native Spanish speaker AP Lang was extremely difficult, I passed with high 90’s but I have never put so much work into a class that wasn’t a core 4 class. AP lit is more tedious than anything. In my school my teacher put a lot of emphasis on descriptive readings and poetry. However, ap lit varies from school to school.

CE527M Thanks. Yeah, I suppose I could do that, or be an office aide or something. I don’t know, I still have a year and a half to decide…

Yeah, we
re overachievers  Most students just take whatever class is an easy A and fun. That
s why everyone tries to take VPS and TV production at my school, they get to get out of class to film people.

Sounds like half the kids at my school… one guy wants to take 3 electives next year b/c he’ll have already finished his science and language requirements. Oh, and we have a STRETCHING AND “DESTRESSING” class, for those who want to be above all the overachievers hahaha… my sarcasm fails…

@CE527M, yes you make food. It’s basically a cooking class. Haha it’s sounds fun and relaxing which I’ll need by the time senior year rolls around. Kinda slacker-ish, but compared to most of the people who fill their schedules up with coasses like creative sewing, leadership, radio production, screen printing, acting etc. i guess one fun class in my high school career won’t be so horrible, haha. And yeah, it’s sad that our school offers nothing besides a regular English class (you can take Sports Lit, Exploring Fiction, Survey of Literature, Creative Writing or Shakespeare senior year for English) and AP Lit. I wish they had some sort of Honors English for seniors. Oh well. I had the AP Lit teacher for freshman Honors English and she’s good and super smart, so we’ll see…still have awhile lol.

@soccer, good luck!

@jazzii, I’m sure it’s hard for non native speakers. I’m not crazy about poetry myself. but I like to read other things.

Yeah CCers are over achievers. not a bad thing!

Again we won’t have school tomorrow! it’s a five day weekend! nice break and time to catch up with work and stuff.

@elf4eva…haha that`s funny. No, good sarcasm, I get it.

@Soccerchic.....ah, I see. Listing all the slacker classes made me think of underwater basket weaving. Kinda random...

@nomatterwhat...naw, we`re normal, all the rest of the kid are *under* achievers!

Lucky! I wish I didn
t have school tomorrow. Had school Monday, didn
t have it today, got it tomorrow unless something drastic happens.

^We’re far from normal

So basketball tryouts went good today. I didn’t make varsity (and didn’t expect to), but in both of the scrimishes I played in, I was the only one to score points so things are looking good for JV.

^I was joking.

Sorry about you not making Varsity.

I am planning on taking the following:
AP stats
Pre-calc w/ discrete
AP Lit
AP Gov
AP chemistry
French 4
And I’m not decided on my final class

Howdy to all out there in 2015dom. Hope everyone had a good Halloween.
