High School Class of 2015

@CEM I think they are generally smaller than the UK ones then: [Google Image Result for http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/maps/uktowns.gif](http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&tbo=d&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-Address&biw=1366&bih=620&tbm=isch&tbnid=uBurEXCgnTf_nM:&imgrefurl=http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/maps/uktowns.htm&docid=andazhGpE1UzRM&imgurl=http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/maps/uktowns.gif&w=966&h=1200&ei=AYHoUKvpCunM0QWRqYDYAg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=329&vpy=136&dur=1186&hovh=250&hovw=201&tx=126&ty=120&sig=104688302007838628308&page=1&tbnh=146&tbnw=117&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0,i:150)
I am weirded out by the number of those that are UK counties as well. There’s and Isle of Wight which isn’t even and island!

@ElvenRanger that is different from the UK IB. Firstly we can only take 3 HLs and 3 SLs and they are more regimented about what they are. If I went to an IB school I would have taken:

Maths HL
History HL
Biology HL
Chemisty or Politics SL
Spanish SL (although I would have had to have extra tutoring beforehand)
English Lit SL

Basically a humanity, maths, a science, english lit and a foreign language were compulsory :/

Oh we have to do the same thing, it’s just extremely convenient that my school offers another group 3 (humanities) subject-business-as an alternative to history.
They do let us take 4 HLs, though… But that’s the max, otherwise everyone would die. XD

Adios, amigos. Off to my little brothers basketball game and then his birthday party (he’s 10 tomorrow). 6 little boys at the party !!! Oi.

That makes sense, we can take geography instead of history I think, but that’s it.

My little brother’s 10 as well, have fun with that :D

My schedule for junior year:

AP Language & Composition
AP Calculus BC
AP Physics B
AP United States History
AP Spanish
AP Psychology
AP Art History (online)

My school has roughly 2600 people, and it is a very good and competitive high school.

Omg I got the same psat as the son of god himself, hobbitton :)

Ok I might get made fun of for this, but what is IB? I’ve never heard of it until coming to CC. My school doesn’t offer it and I’m almost positive none of the schools near me offer it either.

It’s a European system I think. It’s like an alternative to AP.

Oh so they don’t offer it in the US?

They definitely offer it in the US. (See my schedule above somewhere) It did start in Europe though.

International Baccelaureate (sp?) it’s an international system of classes taken mostly in Europe and the US. Here it’s an alternative to A levels and offers a wider range of classes, but I think it’s less different to the normal US system.

@goodnoodle: Yay!! Great job!!
@Hobbitton: dang, your schedule looks rigorous. All APs!! Good luck  sounds like your hs is very good, too!

@UKgirl: You know you’re in the IB when you can spell ‘Baccalaureate.’ The only thing you missed was one a instead of an e.

Jealous of the amount of schedule choices you get. At my school I’ll have to take the same 4 courses for 2 years, and it’s already decided and can’t be changed. I’m taking History, maths, chemistry and biology because my school doesn’t offer Classical Civilisations or English Language, so I have to do mostly science courses even though I want to do history at university.
Not so jealous of HobbitTon’s schedule though!

@ElvenRanger closer than I thought I would be then :)

Yeah my school’s AP program sucks because most (read: nearly all :p) kids come in doing MYP, but then quit after sophomore year, so it’s all like, why didn’t you just quit IB before you came to high school?
I tried to do that, but my mom wouldn’t let me (Asian parents…), so now I’m staying in it so that I still have something of a chance at being valedictorian. Yeah my school is stupid. If you drop out of IB in the middle of high school you don’t have any chance of becoming valedictorian.

I have just watched 20 episodes of a very strange anime series in the last 24 hours. I think I may know japanese now, however the weirdness is sort of getting to me.
Then I went off and had a cry at some Merlin videos on youtube ([Echo [Merlin & Arthur] - YouTube](<a href=“Echo [Merlin & Arthur] - YouTube”>Echo [Merlin & Arthur] - YouTube)) so feeling much more normal :D

I know all about parental pressures  my mum made me resolve to get A*s in 9/10 of my GCSEs which I’m taking the exams for this summer. She originally wanted 10 and I wanted to go with 7 but we reached a compromise over textiles which is the least worthwhile subject on the planet. I’m considering failing it; if you get under 30% it counts as a U and so doesn’t go on transcripts :)

And I saw this and thought you guys might like to know what makes people like me tick  [19 things that make you uniquely British| studentbeans.com](http://www.studentbeans.com/worldweirdweb/a/odd+facts/19-things-that-make-you-uniquely-british3551.html?uid=951047&alh=0eb696447498de53cb534e5793b0d4cc&utm_campaign=BestBits&utm_content=5657406894&utm_medium=email&utm_source=BestBits)
It is completely true (4, 7, 8 and 14 particularly so) although Stephen Fry certainly should be added as a national treasure.

APs are a waste of resources and humanity, if you ask me.

@Purmou how so?

I love my AP class; I actually am challenged and in a class with kids who actually care about learning.
