High School Class of 2015

very few ECs. Band takes a lot of time. School is okay. Next year I won’t be able to do band, because our AP chemistry takes two periods. But I guess it is good in a way that I won’t do band. It’s fun but it takes soooo much time. I don’t even have time to practice my piano anymore. and no time to skate. Band takes over my life.

In my school, if you include lunch as a period, we have seven periods. Six periods are allocated for classes, and each class you register for runs for two semesters (one school year). We are allowed to pick our electives. At my school, Gifted > Honors > CP. Here is my schedule:

9th Grade Gifted Language Arts
Accelerated Integrated Geometry (taking pre-calculus next year)
Spanish II Gifted
Lunch
PE (two semester credits required to graduate, so best to take as freshman)
AP Human Geography
AP Biology

Not a terribly “rigorous” schedule, but I guess it will suffice.

I am also very involved in extra-curricular activities; not for my college applications per se, but as a good way to make friends and assist my community. Not to mention they are very fun! The clubs I am in are very involved already. Here are my extra-curricular activities:

Student Council (Freshman Class President)
Math Team/Mu Alpha Theta
Academic Team
Jr. Civitan
Science Olympiad
Science research at local community college
Student at Kumon three times a week
Volunteering at Elementary School twice a week

Meh, I feel stupid.
I got a 75/90 on a Modern World History Test(not an honors class, so I feel pretty embarassed). My grade is still a 96 point something, but still. The thing is, the teacher gave us 2 extremely easy tests in which you could get answers from the questions themselves. For example, there was a matching part with just 1 person, so you could tell who the person was without learning anything.

This time it was harder though for several reasons. First, the teacher, who is very easy, didn’t make this test: it was made by a teacher who is more difficult. Second, the study guide only covered Chapter 7 material(French Revolution), but the test contained stuff on philosophers that was from a different chapter(we jump around) and we only covered it when watching a video. All the matching questions were organized into similar topics. They had 5 philosophers grouped together, and I was unsure between Voltaire and Hobbes, and I guessed wrong. I was unsure about National Assembly and National Convention for another matching part, and I guessed wrong. And I got a true and false question wrong about Marquis de Laffayette having his head on a stick(I put true stupidly). 25/30 and she unfortunately counted each for 3 points each.

Luckily, my overall grades are decent, but not great.
Algebra 2 H-97.48%
English 9 H-94%(summer reading tests killed me-I got a C+ on one and a B on the other…and we are one of the few schools that do these[I google summer reading test and our school is the first to show up])
P.E. 1-94%(I thought the teacher was really easy and I had 103%…then he put in skills grades and I got an 80 on that)
Modern World History-96.34%
Spanish 2-97%
Biology H-96%(hardest teacher, but luckily I haven’t screwed anything up badly yet besides the pop quizzes…we have to use an annoying college/AP Bio textbook for some reason)

Is anyone here planning on taking the AMC10/12, AIME, or USAMO?

None of the above.

We can take 7 classes.

@Mathcountser, it happens. For my first AP gov. test, I got… ummm 62%. :frowning: I did better later on. Now I have a solid a in AP gov. but my bio grade is slipping. GAAAHHHH :o

My Bio teacher has announced that he doesn’t tolerate grades above Bs. The Valedictorian of last year got a C plus in his class when he took it. Currently, I’m averaging about a mid 90, so I’m worried.

Thanks for hacking into my account, little brother.

This is what happens when I go home to visit family.

LOL Beatles. Is he a frosh too?

Wow, I just found this thread. Im also a freshman, so I might as well post my schedule:

Biology H
English 2 H
(Stupid) Reading Class H 1st semester/AP US Government 2nd semester
Freshman Band
AP Human Geography
Algebra 2 H
French 2

Current ECs:
Marching Band
Leo Club
Drama Club

The only test I have taken is the PSAT and I haven’t gotten my score yet.

My school is much more focused on the arts than academics. Many kids have more arts classes than academics. We don’t have any AP’s either. Never the less, we are still pretty smart. I’m a freshman this year, and I’m taking:
ENC1101 - (college english 1)
AMH1010/1020 (college U.S. history 1 and 2)
ISC141c- (college earth/space science)
Algebra 2H
Statistics
Spanish 2H
Piano 1 adv.
Tae Kwon Do 1 adv.

E.C. Activities:
Boy Scouts (Quartermaster-responsible for troop gear)
Math team/Mu Alpha Theta (Secretary, tutor)
Order of the Arrow (“scouting’s honor society”)
Amazon (I import & sell through Amazon. It’s kinda cool)
Distance Running (no cross-country @ school; I run on my own (5k-half marathon))

In the next four years, I hope to learn academic stuff and critical thinking skills to get myslef into a good college, but I also hope to learn leadership skills to help me one day lead Marines. And later, maybe a team of engineers.

Cool seeing you here, Evan.
I do the same thing via Amazon.

That’s awesome. I almost thought I was the only one!

Nah, I actually have a sort of guild with some of my friends, which I’m President of. We were inspired by that story about that kid on Craiglist who bought a Cadillac.

So when are all of you taking your SAT 2s this year, if you’re taking 'em this year?

If I do take any sat 2s it would be June 2. This is because my school gets out in the middle of may so I would have a week or two to study for it.

ill take mine in may or june

Same. After school ends, and I am taking the Biology: Molecular.

Hobbit: Same, along with USH.

I’m not taking any SAT this year. hopefully starting form next year.
so which subjects will you guys take?

Yay I made all As for the first quarter. :)
