High School Class of 2015

@StanfordFuture I’m self studying for AP Comp Sci starting pretty soon (not only did class have insufficient enrollment, teacher is supposed to be really bad). You don’t need a class to learn Java, just the motivation to do so. :P

Also for APs to self-study, Psych, ES, and Human Geo are all supposedly easy. Bio is doable with self-discipline and lots of memorization. Both Econs and Stats are also supposed to be not impossible I believe.

Hey guys, give me a rating and some comments -

My schedule this year is:
AP US government
Honors Algebra II
Honors Geometry
Honors English
Honors biology
French II
Band

Sophomore:
AP chemistry
AP US History (double period)
Honors Trig/Precalc
Honors French III
English Honors
Band (half year)
Health (half year)

EC’s so far:
ALL State Band (!) (Sorry I’m really proud of myself because of this. lol)
Mock trial
Debate team
Science Bowl
French club
Community Orchestra

Service
Making prom movies for Board of Ed, Dept. of Ed of the State.
Helper in a summer science program

Job -
Tutor

I know my ECs are weak… I think when I get to upper class I can do math competitions because my math is really good. but I don’t know what else…

Which one should I take? And no my school isn’t super competitive so these courses
are actually advanced for my grade. Except for my math courses…
Sophomore Year:
GATE Spanish 2
Ag Biology
Advanced Choir
GATE English
Geometry
AP Euro

OR
GATE Spanish 2
GATE English
GATE Algebra 2
Geometry
Ag Biology
AP Euro History

The only difference is next year I would be taking two math classes to get ahead instead of taking only one and having a free period for choir(:

Hey guys, sox here.
I’ also a member of the 2015 class, just like you guys :)

Anyways, some stuff about me:
I play a variety of sports, yet don’t significantly excel in a specific one.
I’m of the top academics that my school has to offer.
I love Math, Science, and recently History
I enjoy reading for pleasure books that beg to be analyzed thoroughly

My schedule for this year:
AP Euro
Honors Algebra II
Honors Biology
English 10 (even though im a freshman :D)
Spanish 9 Native Language
P.E. (required)
Health (required)

My schedule for next year, if there are no conflicts:
AP World History
AP Art History
AP Statistics ( Alg 2 is the only requisite in my school)
English 11
Honors Chemistry I
Honors Physics / Adv. Physics
Honors Spanish 10 Native Language

Comments and opinions would be appreciated
I currently Tutor for Community service and plan on getting involved in the debate club and student council as of next year.

@Chunnemoeyes. I would take the second choice because it is more rigorous. Colleges want to see that you are taking the most difficult courses your school offers.

Chunnemoeyes, take the second schedule. You should’ve taken Geometry this year already, what are you taking now? (: Being ahead would probably be if you’re taking Pre-Calc next year, it’s why I’m self studying Algebra II right now.

and sox, your schedule sounds good! Just get more involved in ECs and choose what sport/s you want to really continue with and have a passion for, otherwise you’re just wasting your time.

My school doesnt offer many clubs… I could consider starting one and seeing how it turns out though. Which club is the most popular at your schools that maybe you can recommend me to start? I dont attend a school in the USA, but I do get an American diploma, so keep that in mind…

@thesoxpride10. The most popular club at my school is key club followed by csf. CSF is California scholarship federation, so I doubt you could start it.

sox, are you an international student? If so, where? I’m currently an international in China, though I’ll be attending a school in California next year.

Um, at international schools clubs like Habitat for Humanity, Interact and MUN are the most popular. MUN especially is one of the biggest speech/debate programs internationally and is seriously the most amazing club I’ve ever joined and looks good on resumes as well. Robotics is also really fun.

@presque, I’m taking algebra 1 right now
I moved districts going into highschool so something got messed up and i had to take it ALL over again…

Yes I am, I live in a small Central American country, Panama. MUN is what I’ve planned on participating in next year but aside from that my school doesnt really offer much. I’ve looked into robotics but it seams a little too expensive perhaps?

Chunnemoeyes, ugh that sounds terrible. ): but yeah if you go with the second schedule you should be able to catch up. Oh dear, I’m moving countries, my schedule will probably get even more mixed up D:

sox. So it’s not an international school, just a normal public school? MUN is really great, something I plan on pursuing when I go back to the states. Definitely join a volunteering club or make your own; there are so many opportunities to help out even in Panama just locally or anywhere in South America, really. If you really want to get involved, you could consider starting up a soup kitchen/some sort of charity foundation etc. Living in a country like Panama gives you a really different outlook than most normal US high school students, and that’s really good! And fundraising always helps out with everything! Come up with good fundraising and you can start up whatever you want. (:

It is an international, private school

can someone comment on my plan please. thanks!! (posted previously)

@Sox, why don’t you take precalc next year instead of statistics?

@shmluza; i’d give you a… 7.5/10 or so? why does APUSH take up 2 blocks? Both AP chem and APUSH will be hard, so hats off to you. (:

and sox, lol, if you’re an international private school like mine – i hope this doesn’t sound terrible – but most kids are loaded. you can probably start up any club you’d like and talk a lot with the principal to help you out, but the kids won’t mind forking up some money either.

Guys, I think I’m going to die in the summer. I’m volunteering 39 hours a week for eight weeks.

@presque, you’re a tough grader. :slight_smile:
Yes I’ve heard they’re both hard. I’m actually nervous about that. But I have a summer fast paced HS chem course. It’ll help me get ready.

@Hobbit, I’m not sure if we could still see you after summer. if not, RIP. :frowning: hahahaha

Thank you for your concern shmluza haha. But honestly, I’m excited to be active and try new things. I’d hate to have a lethargic summer.
