High School Class of 2015

Dune are you also homeschooled?

I mean the social aspects of school are so important to me, even though my school is far from great. but my friends and all… But I’m sure if you have a group, it’s okay.

@Divergent, so you decided to go to a public school next year? Have you always been home schooled? I mean, since elementary?

@HobbitTon- I am 1/488 but I am assuming its a pretty big tie.

@nomatterwhat Virtual schooled. Matters what you consider homeschooling. I am self taught and work at home, but still do “public school.”

@Orlyaaa Ah, as a virtual school student, most of my relationships are long distance anyways. (Moved from Arizona after 7th.) Not really lonely because I’m close to my parents, but I can see the thinking.

I just finished reading Fahrenheit 451, and it was very satisfying, thought-provoking read. Any other good summer reads?

Dune- how do you like virtual school? I’ve never met anyone who uses that before. I know what you mean on the relationships thing though. I moved around every couple years for awhile, then stayed in DC for 5. I again moved two years ago this fall and I still don’t have many friends here. They’re all in DC.

Orlyaaa- No, I haven’t been homeschooled my whole life. I went to public elementary through 1st, was homeschooled 2nd and 3rd, private school 4rth-6th, charter school in 7th, and homeschool again 8th and 9th with a different co-op each year. Needless to say I’ve had a bit of a problem finding a good fit.
I have a lot of friends from private school where I used to live. I don’t have many here, but I’ve made some here through track and field and church. Some through homeschool stuff, but honestly most homeschoolers annoy me.
Do you know many homeschoolers? In some places I’ve lived there’s a pretty permeating sterotype of them as shy with bad people skills.

I’m a bit late on replying, but alas.
I just finished my Freshman year.
This year we read Rome and Juliet, Great Expectation(surprisingly good.), The Alchemist(too biblical ;–;), and Tuesdays with Morrie over summer break.
Does anyone else have to read Lord of the Flies over summer break?

My classes were

Pre AP (Honors?) English I
JV Choir
Health/Tech Data Entry
AP Human Geography
Pre AP Geometry
Spanish 2
Pre AP Biology

I ended the year with a 95.42 GPA. It’s not at all good enough, in my opinion. Though I am shocked because I’m the laziest person I know and I’m incapable of studying. At my school and here in Texas there is some very beneficial Top 10% rule… It’s a long story but, to have been in top 10% I’d have needed a 97.46 GPA ;–;. My school is full of a bunch of hardworking geniuses.

Oh, yeah, is Honors basically the same as Pre AP.
I have always thought so.

For my sophomore year I plan on taking
Pre AP English 2
Varsity Choir
Pre AP Algebra 2
Accounting/Money Matters
Pre AP Spanish 3
Pre AP Chemistry
AP World Geography

And I’m gonna play Softball c:
I told myself to be better organized next year… and care a little bit more about … school c;

And this was too much for a first post… O.o

I have to read Lord of The Flies! I heard it sucks!

I’m also having to read “Lord of the Flies”, in addition to “To Kill A Mockingbird”. I’m not too excited for either of them. I’ve read the first two chapters of TKAM and the motif is very much of a “White Savior Industrial Complex”. Also, Lord of the Flies seems like very much out of my realm in terms of genre (I’m not too fond of fiction, fantasy, sci-fi etc.)

I live in North Carolina and my rank is #1/449

Lord of the flies wasn’t my type either- it was interesting though. My school just changed the summer reading for 10th from lord of the flies, but I read it anyway.
I like to kill a mockingbird. I’ve read it 4 times at various schools. I see where you’re coming from though.

Sent from my ADR6400L using CC

Hey can anyone “rate” me for NCSSM? I will apply next year. (the people that I have not already talked to. lol)

I’m actually looking forward to summer reading. @_@ I like reading, not in a classroom though. I haven’t seriously read a book in months though.

This year we read Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies, Romeo and Juliet, and Siddhartha.

My counselor just told me I ranked #2 in my class, not sure if there is a tie and not sure of the class size. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and 4.28 weighted. I took the only possible AP for freshman. I also took all the possible honors. But I carry a 4.0 algebra I from 8th grade and a 4.0 French 1 as well. I also took band which won’t give honors credit until junior year. Can someone explain why I’m number 2?

not that it matters.

@cogent, you apparently didn’t get the point of his/her question.

@SHMLUZA, my guess is maybe someone didn’t take band. they take all honors. Or they don’t have those 8th grade 4.0 in their transcript. If you care, you may ask your counselor. But as you said, it really doesn’t matter. class rank changes a lot in later years.

My courses for Sophomore year:

AP Ancient-Medieval History
AP Ancient-Medieval Literature
AP Philosophy & Culture
AP Latin II
Chemistry
Algebra II
OT/NT Survey (A college Bible course)

How do you have AP Philosophy,Medieval History, etc? The college board doesn’t even offer it.

@jpvn2015

They have an AP Latin 2…? Cool!

@starkali: we read Lord of the Flies this year and maybe it isn’t a book I’d read over and over again, but I have to admit it’s powerful. Especially towards the end. And To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorites. Love Atticus(: But I can see how they might not be your type, f you’re not into classics. Hey, Lord of the Flies is pretty short, it shouldn’t be too bad!
@HobbitTon: Planning to read Farenheit 451 this summer! what genre are you looking for?

Fahrenheit 451 is great!
