Hey guys, I know it’s been a while since I posted, but I’m back now! I have model un elections tomorrow and I’m running for vp; what should I say in my speech? I have a good speech already but I’m just looking for things I could add to get more votes. What did you guys do when running for an officer position in a club?

@Woandering
I’d just go with whoever is more motivated (or get both???). Speech & Debate is a rewarding activity, but does take some planning/rope learning at least for the coach.

@Slytherclaw12 Amazing name btw, I’m a Slytherclaw, too!

So I tend to avoid anything that includes speech making elections, not because I dislike Speech (I love it, tho I suck at it. I’m trying to get better tho.), but because that usually means popularity contest. Honestly, can a class rep. do half the things s/he said she would do? That said, at our school most club officers are chosen by the teacher in charge; lucky for me.

Anyway, some poor advice. Try being honest. Make your job description transparent to everyone else, and then explain how you will work hard to do all the dirty work (logistics) for everyone. Perhaps, think of an idea to improve the club itself or the recruiting process (Advertisement).

Again, I would say it’s a popularity contest. Go get voters, and don’t worry about the speech as much.

@Slytherclaw12: The way I got myself elected to sophomore rep (only to quit a week later :D) was by talking to a few “popular” people who like me and getting them to get their vast friend circles to vote for me. Worked like a charm.

Trying to get an internship at JPL

Tip for those of you planning to self study AP Cal BC: don’t procrastinate as heavily as I. A month before the exam and I’m still learning series (It is my next to last topic, but still). Lol I’m failing this exam

My senior year schedule is going to end up being harder than my junior year one…

So my interview for my state math/science school is in a few hours. Agdkwurhskwhdl

How do you think that colleges see not taking any physics in high school? I would try to take it but my school only offers a regular class (no honors, AP, dual credit, anything) and no one really takes it. I have room in my schedule for it but I would much rather use that space for something more rigorous. I wouldn’t even hesitate to not take it, if I wasn’t looking at mainly STEM fields for possible careers.

@deTURMANed22

Colleges generally want at least one year of Chemistry, Biology, and Physics

@TeamRocketGrunt - Holy crap, you’re interviewing already? How’d it go?

I skipped Honors Physics because I tested out of it and went straight to pre-IB chemistry.
I personally don’t think it’ll impede my admissions chances at all… I’m not going to worry about it. :-?

@CandyPants16

So, physics = chemistry? Lol

are any of you here doing the IB next year?

@amica123 I am! Although I’m used to IB because this is my last year in MYP (5th year). We have to get our MYP certificates before going into DP, and we’ve already started thinking about our Extended Essays. A lot of people are dropping out though.

@amica123 I’m doing the IB Diploma.

@amica123
I was thinking about it but there are a couple of draw backs.

Has anyone taken the Sat II for Physics

(Sorry for the double post)

@SwaggyC: Nope. Plan to study for it over the summer tho. I’ve decided to study for the USAPhO and USNCO rather than USABO and USNCO.
